■要點詮釋

一、構(gòu)成形式

過去進(jìn)行時的構(gòu)成形式是“助動詞was/were+動詞-ing形式”。例如：

I was sleeping.../You were working...He was crying.../We were listening.../They were playing...

二、時間狀語

過去進(jìn)行時的時間狀語通常有this time yesterday、at eight yesterday morning、at that time、from two to five yesterday afternoon和when I walked in the street等。

三、主要功能

1.表示在過去某一時刻正在進(jìn)行或發(fā)生的動作。例如：

What was she doing at nine o'clock yesterday?昨天晚上九點她在做什么？

2.表示在過去某一段時間內(nèi)進(jìn)行或發(fā)生的動作。例如：

We were watching TV from seven to nine last night.昨晚七點到九點我們正在看電視。

3.表示在過去某時刻按計劃、安排將要發(fā)生的動作。例如：

He said they were leaving for Beijing this afternoon.他說他們今天下午要去北京。

【特別提醒】

1.know、like、love、agree、want、wish、understand、believe、hear等表示心理活動的動詞，通常不用過去進(jìn)行時。

2.在考查過去進(jìn)行時的單選題中，有時沒有提供明確的表示過去的時間狀語，需要我們在上下文中尋找“暗含”的時間狀語。例如：

—Ididn'tsee you here yesterday.Where were you?我昨天在這兒沒見到你。你去哪兒了？

—I was staying at home all day to go over my lessons.我一整天都待在家里復(fù)習(xí)功課。
