1 acid

熟義：n.酸，酸性物質(zhì) adj.酸的；含酸過多的

生義：adj.（1）尖酸刻薄的

如：an acid comment尖刻的評(píng)論

（2）犀利的；有洞察力的（something incisive, biting, or sarcastic）

如：Black is known for his acid political observations.布萊克因他敏銳的政治觀察力而知名。

2 bother

熟義：vt.打擾，煩擾

生義：v.（1）（因嫌麻煩而）懶得做（If you do not bother to do something, you do not do it because you think it is unnecessary or because you are too lazy.）

如：I’m not going to bother with the details.我不打算費(fèi)那個(gè)勁去講述細(xì)節(jié)。

Don’t bother to come with me.不用跟我一起來，太麻煩了。

5 impossible

熟義：adj.不可能的

生義：adj.（1）不可能做到的（felt to be incapable of being done）如：an impossible deadline 不可能趕得上的截止日期

（2）非常討厭的；不可理喻的（of a person, annoying and diffi cult to deal with because of their bad behaviour or strong views）

如：You refuse to help and then criticize me for not doing it right.You’re impossible! 你不肯幫忙，又批評(píng)我做得不對(duì)。你真是不可理喻!

（3）難以對(duì)付的（of a situation, extremely awkward or diffi cult to deal with ）

如：The government was now in an almost impossible position.政府目前處境非常艱難。

6 address

熟義：n.地址

生義：v.（1）和…說話（to speak to）

如：She turned to address the man on her left in low tones.她轉(zhuǎn)過頭低聲地和她左邊的男人說話。

（2）演講，致辭（to make a formal speech to）

如：He is going to address the audience in a minute．他馬上就要開始演講了。

（3）稱…為…（to call a person to whom one is speaking by a particular name or term）

如：Address the judge as “Your Honor”.稱法官為“閣下”。

（4）開始處理（to begin to deal with）

如：The company had to address the issue that some people lock shared bikes for private use.這家公司不得不處理有些人將共享單車上鎖占為私用的問題。

7 high

熟義：adj.高的

生義：adj.（1）緊要的，重要的（If you say that something is a high priority or is high on your list, you mean that you consider it to be one of the most important things you have to do or deal with.）

如：The government has not made the issue a high priority.政府還沒有高度重視這件事。

Economic reform is high on the agenda.經(jīng)濟(jì)改革迫在眉睫。

（2）興高彩烈的，興奮的（If you or your spirits are high, you feel happy and excited.）

如：Her spirits were high with the hope of seeing Nick in minutes.想到過幾分鐘就可能見到尼克了，她就很激動(dòng)。

By the end of concert the children are really high.音樂會(huì)結(jié)束的時(shí)候，孩子們已經(jīng)非常激動(dòng)了。

8 interest

熟義：n.興趣

生義：n.（1）股份，股權(quán)（a right, claim, or legal share）

如：I have an interest in the company.我持有這家公司的股份。

（2）利息（a charge for a loan, usually a percentage of the amount loaned）

如：It allows you to earn a little interest on your money.這讓你可以用你的錢賺一點(diǎn)利息。

（3）利益（the advantage or benefi t of a person or group ）

如：The merger is not contrary to the public interest.這次并購和公眾利益并無沖突。

9 keen

熟義：adj.熱衷的，渴望的（be keen on喜愛，熱衷于）

生義：adj.（1）（頭腦）敏捷的，精明的；（感覺）敏銳的（intellectually alert；extremely sensitive in perception）

如：a keen student 聰明的學(xué)生

a keen awareness of the problem 對(duì)問題的敏銳察覺力

（2）（競(jìng)爭）激烈的；（感情）強(qiáng)烈的（sharply contested； of emotion or feeling, intense）

10 literally

熟義：adv.逐字地

生義：adv.（1）字面地；非比喻地；非引申地

如：Many words can be used both literally and fi guratively.很多詞都既有字面意思又有引申義。

He took her comments literally.他按字面意思理解了她的評(píng)論。

（2）確實(shí)地，不加夸張地；完全絕對(duì)地

如：The story he told was basically true, even if it wasn't literally true.他說的即便不是完全真實(shí)，也基本是真實(shí)的。

（3）（用于夸張）簡直

如：The runner literally fl ew round the track.這位賽跑運(yùn)動(dòng)員簡直是繞著跑道在飛。

（4）用于加強(qiáng)語氣（used as an intensive expression）

如：He’s crazy, I mean literally.他瘋了，我是說真的。
