        Advances in Domestic and Foreign Studies about Banana in 2013-2014 from the Perspective of Literature

        Abstract Scientific literature retrieval analysis plays an important role in promoting the scientific research and technological progress.Based on the literature included by SCI-EXPANDED and EI database,this paper compared and analyzed the main research literatures of bananas both at home and abroad in 2013-2014.It compared the advances in domestic and foreign studies about the banana from main counties,number of papers included,main disciplines and fields,to provide certain guidance and references for development direction of domestic studies of banana in China.

        1 Introduction

        The inclusion of scientific literature in the international authoritative retrieval system is a comprehensive reflection of the country’s academic status.Scientific papers are historical records of scientific and technological development,and also important basis for the development level and development trend of science and technology.They play an important role in promoting scientific research and technological progress[1-3].Nowadays,the SCI-EXPANDED and EI databases are recognized as the most authoritative scientific and technical literature retrieval tools in the world[4-5].Based on the literature included by SCI-EXPANDED and EI database,we compared and analyzed the main research literatures of bananas both at home and abroad in 2013-2014.We compared the advances in domestic and foreign studies about the banana from main counties,number of papers included,main disciplines and fields,in order to provide certain guidance and references for development direction of domestic studies of banana in China.

        Retrieval method: we selected SCI-EXPANDED and EI databases,the retrieval range was the literature title,the connection word used OR,and selected the common word "banana" used in domestic and foreign scientific literature,and the retrieval time was January 2015.

        2 Domestic and foreign studies of banana

        2.1ForeignstudiesofbananaThrough searching,there are 241 foreign papers about the banana,involving 72 research disciplines.The main research disciplines are Food Science and Technology,Plant Science,Agronomy,Chemistry,Biochemistry Molecular Biology,Biotechnology & Applied Microbiology,and Environmental Science.

        2.1.1Food Science and Technology,Chemistry,and Environmental Science.These disciplines mainly study the functional characteristics of banana powder,the convection drying and water adsorption behavior of raw bananas,the distribution of fructans in banana varieties and the effects on maturity and processing,the heat treatment of banana starch,the chemical composition of green bananas and theinvitrostarch digestion rate,effect of banana addition on the viscous fermentation of blueberry wine,continuous and intermittent drying of bananas,starch morphology,physicochemical properties and functional characteristics of banana varieties,carotene content in immature and mature banana varieties,evaluation of antioxidant activity of banana inflorescence extracts,drying characteristics and physical and chemical properties and microstructure characteristics of dry cooking banana slices,banana modified starchinvitrodigestion rate,optimization of microwave drying conditions of banana varieties by response surface methodology (RSM),visualization of atomic force microscopy for the internal structure of banana starch granules,structural characteristics of banana starch,evaluation of banana pseudostems for removing blue dye low-cost adsorbent,the effect of green banana powder on the physical and chemical properties of ice cream,effect of banana starch intake on blood sugar response,application of banana waste biomass in the second generation ethanol industry,banana industry social and environmental responsibility,social and environmental responsibility of banana industry,lignocellulosic agricultural waste of banana plant,evaluation of pesticide application in banana crops,etc.

        2.2.1Food Science and Technology and Chemistry.These disciplines mainly study the non-uniform liquefaction characteristics of banana pseudostems,effects of nitric oxide on energy metabolism of postharvest banana fruits under low temperature stress,effect of 1-MCP and ethylene combination treatment on banana fruit ripening,changes of digestion rate and structural characteristics of green banana starch duringinvitrodigestion,shelf life prediction of banana,adsorption of methylene blue and orange II pollutants by activated carbon from banana peel,changes in microbial quality and physical and chemical properties of banana smoothie after high pressure treatment,changes in microbial quality and physical and chemical properties of banana smoothie after high pressure treatment,determination of banana size based on computer vision,etc.

        3 Comparison and analysis of domestic and foreign studies of banana

        The domestic studies about banana are less than foreign studies of banana.Both domestic and foreign studies of banana are mainly Food Science and Technology,Plant Science,Agronomy,and Biotechnology & Applied Microbiology and Chemistry disciplines.Foreign studies mostly involve the evaluation of antioxidant activity of banana inflorescence extracts,drying characteristics and physical and chemical properties of dry cooking banana slices,optimization of microwave drying conditions of banana varieties by application of response surface methodology (RSM),visualization of internal structure of banana starch granules by atomic force microscopy,and banana anthrax differential gene expression analysis of resistant banana varieties after bacterial infection,genetic structure and genetic diversity of banana bunchy top virus population,and effects of nutrient deficiency on banana yellow banana leaf spot diseases.These areas are not reported in domestic literature.By comparison,domestic studies mostly involves the effects of nitric oxide (NO) on energy metabolism under post-harvest banana fruit under low temperature stress,the effect of 1-MCP and ethylene combination treatment on banana fruit ripening,banana root knot nematode,multi-site sequence analysis of banana soft rot fungus and biochemical characteristics,hydrogen sulfide (H2S) enhanced antioxidant system and proline content reducing low temperature damage of banana fruit,etc.
