古語說得好：子欲養(yǎng)而親不待。這篇文章，講述的是一個(gè)浮躁的年輕人，因?yàn)橄胍惠v車而誤解了父親。等到想見父親時(shí)，卻再也見不到父親了?？赐瓯疚模銈冇泻胃邢肽?？

A young man was getting ready to graduate from college.For many months he had admired（贊賞）a beautiful sports car in a store，and knowing his father could well afford it，he told him that was all he wanted.

As Graduation Day came，the young man awaited（等待）signs that his father had purchased the car.Finally，on the morning of his graduation，his father called him into his study.His father told him how proud he was to have such a fine son，and told him how much he loved him.He handed his son a beautiful gift box.The young man opened the box and found a Bible，with

the young man’s name on it.Angrily，he raised his voice to his father and said，“With all your money you give me a Bible？”He then ran out of the house，leaving the Bible.

Many years passed and the young man was very successful in business.He had a beautiful home and a wonderful family，but realizing his father was very old，he thought perhaps he should go to see him.He had not seen him since that Graduation Day.Before he could make the arrangements（安排），he received a telegram telling him his father had passed away，leaving something for him.

When he arrived at his father’s house，he saw the Bible that he left years ago.With tears，he opened the Bible and began to turn the pages.

As he was reading，a car key dropped from the back of the Bible.It had a tag（標(biāo)簽）with the dealer’s name and the words∶“PAID IN FULL”.Sudden sadness and regret filled his heart！

1.For many months he had admired a beautiful sports car in a store，and knowing his father could well afford it，he told him that was all he wanted.好多個(gè)月以來，他一直羨慕能擁有在商場(chǎng)里的一輛跑車，也知道他父親可以負(fù)擔(dān)得起，于是他就向他的父親說了他的要求。

該句是由連詞and連接的并列句。knowing his father could well afford it是現(xiàn)在分詞短語，作狀語；he wanted是省略關(guān)系代詞的定語從句，修飾all。

2.His father told him how proud he was to have such a fine son，and told him how much he loved him.他的父親告訴他有他這樣的兒子很自豪，也告訴他自己愛他。

and連接的是兩個(gè)并列句。how proud he was to have such a fine son和how much he loved him在分句中均充當(dāng)told的賓語；such a是常見的搭配形式，意為“如此的一個(gè)……”，后面接“形容詞+名詞”形式。

3.Angrily，he raised his voice to his father and said.他生氣地對(duì)爸爸提高了說話的聲音。

angrily是angry的副詞形式，意為“氣憤地”，作狀語；raise one’s voice to是固定詞組，意為“某人對(duì)……提高了嗓門”，后接名詞或代詞。
