        光影里跳動(dòng)的“大國(guó)匠心”

        這是一個(gè)關(guān)于匠人、匠心、匠行的故事——

        故事的主人公身有缺陷,卻心無(wú)旁騖,磨煉自己的技能,享受專(zhuān)注做事帶來(lái)的內(nèi)心寧?kù)o;故事的導(dǎo)演也將自己視為身有殘缺的主人公,五年磨一劍,試圖通過(guò)小人物的故事反映中國(guó)匠心。

        不久前,在法國(guó)文化部、法國(guó)匠心聯(lián)合會(huì)主辦的法國(guó)匠人國(guó)際電影節(jié)(FIFMA)(又名法國(guó)國(guó)際工藝電影節(jié))中,由中國(guó)美術(shù)學(xué)院影視與動(dòng)畫(huà)藝術(shù)學(xué)院教師陳雨執(zhí)導(dǎo)的短片《Li》,從世界各地千余部電影作品中脫穎而出,在5個(gè)評(píng)審委員會(huì)大獎(jiǎng)中獲得最佳短片獎(jiǎng)。評(píng)委會(huì)給出了極高的評(píng)語(yǔ)——“我們被這個(gè)敏感的個(gè)像電影深深感染,短片出色的電影寫(xiě)作,展現(xiàn)了導(dǎo)演在主題選擇及對(duì)其呈現(xiàn)上的力量?!?/p>

        值得一提的是,電影節(jié)的主旨與中國(guó)美術(shù)學(xué)院所提倡的“如哲人般思考,像匠人般勞作”出奇契合——懷匠心、踐匠行、做匠人。創(chuàng)立近30年的法國(guó)匠人國(guó)際電影節(jié),一直在用電影表達(dá)藝術(shù)領(lǐng)域中凝結(jié)的匠人精神;作為中國(guó)美院“哲匠”精神的踐行者,陳雨在把鏡頭對(duì)準(zhǔn)傳統(tǒng)手工藝匠人的同時(shí),也在向世界傳遞中國(guó)的匠人故事。

        再現(xiàn)真實(shí)故事

        這是一個(gè)基于真實(shí)故事改編的短片作品。片中的主人公Li是一名80后,他是一個(gè)出色的木雕手藝人。

        畫(huà)面從Li的旅行開(kāi)始,記錄沿途的種種風(fēng)景。期間,穿插著他與自己內(nèi)心、他與手中的工具之間的私密對(duì)話。用陳雨自己的話說(shuō),影片是想要表達(dá)一種被壓抑、被殘缺包裹著的富有勇氣的美好夢(mèng)想與旅行。

        選擇Li作為主人公,源于一次機(jī)緣巧合的拜訪。期間,陳雨被一只精雕細(xì)琢、栩栩如生的木獅子所折服,心生感嘆。這只在影片開(kāi)頭閃現(xiàn)的木雕獅子,正是這部短片的靈光一現(xiàn)?!斑@只木雕獅子的創(chuàng)作者是一名聾啞人,他是Li的師父,也是故事的原型。”Li在述說(shuō)自己師父的故事時(shí)帶給陳雨極大的觸動(dòng),“他身有殘疾,但心中格外篤定?!?/p>

        師父已經(jīng)離世,但匠人匠心代代傳承。陳雨找來(lái)Li作為替身,講述創(chuàng)新傳統(tǒng)技藝、傳承工匠精神的故事。Li在片中說(shuō):“這個(gè)職業(yè)很苦,沒(méi)有多少人真正愿意做這個(gè)事情,可是我做,一直在做……”相信這段內(nèi)心獨(dú)白,也是他師傅的一生追求。

        陳雨在接受法國(guó)當(dāng)?shù)孛襟w采訪時(shí)說(shuō),自己喜歡并認(rèn)同葡萄牙著名作家Fernando Pessoa的一句話——“文學(xué)像其他任何存在的藝術(shù)形式一樣,是人對(duì)生活得不到滿(mǎn)足的一種自我招供?!彼f(shuō),“我們寫(xiě)作、繪畫(huà)、雕刻或者拍攝,是因?yàn)槲覀冃枰眠@樣的藝術(shù)行為去闡發(fā)思想。電影也一樣,導(dǎo)演在拍攝某個(gè)人物的時(shí)候,勢(shì)必會(huì)把自己放在被拍攝對(duì)象的位置去思考、度量?!?/p>

        作為影片的導(dǎo)演,陳雨時(shí)常認(rèn)為自己和影片中的主人公Li一樣,也是“殘缺”的。“其實(shí),在某些方面,我們每個(gè)人都不完美,所以,這部作品就是想用真實(shí)的故事喚起人們對(duì)于‘完美的探討,讓更多的年輕人主動(dòng)追求精益求精。”

        不到5分鐘的短片,從開(kāi)拍到結(jié)束,歷經(jīng)多次剪輯,耗時(shí)5年。如今呈現(xiàn)在我們面前的每一幀背后,都有鮮為人知的故事。因此,想要完整又“濃縮”地呈現(xiàn)這個(gè)故事,不是一件容易的事。語(yǔ)言要盡可能簡(jiǎn)練,情節(jié)要更加緊湊,結(jié)構(gòu)也不能拖沓。片中涉及Li的個(gè)人獨(dú)白不過(guò)20多句,但每一句都是真實(shí)而富有張力的。

        慢鏡頭的逆光特寫(xiě),匠人專(zhuān)注的眼神,手上多年的紋路,作品的點(diǎn)滴細(xì)節(jié)……逐漸渲染出Li平日里的工作氛圍和意境。因?yàn)楫?huà)面本身已經(jīng)有足夠的說(shuō)服力,在后期,陳雨并沒(méi)有進(jìn)行過(guò)多的包裝,極大部分的畫(huà)面只有功能性的中法雙語(yǔ)字幕出現(xiàn)。簡(jiǎn)明的節(jié)奏讓短片更有一份傳遞精神力量的厚重感,讓匠人匠心得到純粹透徹的傳達(dá)。

        傳遞匠人精神

        用匠心,做匠人。Li是這樣的做的,陳雨亦是如此。

        陳雨在《Li》聲音的創(chuàng)作上傾注了巨大精力,與法國(guó)聲音團(tuán)隊(duì)共同創(chuàng)作。20多句Li個(gè)人的獨(dú)白,就來(lái)自陳雨模仿聾啞人發(fā)出的含糊不清的氣聲。

        “電影的聲音有時(shí)比畫(huà)面更重要。”陳雨說(shuō),如今,視聽(tīng)技術(shù)的發(fā)展迅速,特別在同期聲錄音方面,不少技術(shù)難題都得以迎刃而解,但如何將“聲音風(fēng)景”P(pán)aysage sonore介入藝術(shù)創(chuàng)作思維,是一個(gè)非常值得深究的問(wèn)題,也是一個(gè)非常難解決的問(wèn)題。影片中,陳雨就用了這樣的嘗試。

        旁白中,有一句話令人印象深刻。“我相信,努力下去不放棄,一個(gè)人一定會(huì)鵬程萬(wàn)里!鵬程萬(wàn)里!”反復(fù)揣摩中,陳雨激起自己的共鳴點(diǎn):要像Li那樣,用精湛的藝術(shù)手藝來(lái)彌補(bǔ)自己“不完美”,讓執(zhí)著與勇氣帶來(lái)精神世界升華。

        陳雨告訴筆者,自己在法國(guó)留學(xué)時(shí),曾拜訪過(guò)一位當(dāng)?shù)刂氖謽尩窨處?,即便是手槍雕刻這種令人叫絕的工藝活,也面臨著后繼無(wú)人的問(wèn)題。再看國(guó)內(nèi),多少手工藝人正面臨傳統(tǒng)技藝將在自己手中終結(jié)的境地……于是,強(qiáng)烈的使命感在陳雨心中迸發(fā):“在現(xiàn)代社會(huì),傳統(tǒng)工藝應(yīng)該有自己的生存法則,我應(yīng)該用光影讓這些傳統(tǒng)技藝在這個(gè)時(shí)代留下自己的影像,延續(xù)技藝的生命?!?/p>

        物件是否美,可能取決于手藝人的技藝,也可能是他們用手給物滲入的心魂或生命。我們?cè)谥魅斯獿i的故事中找到了“美”,也在陳雨打磨無(wú)數(shù)次的影片中,挖掘他身上無(wú)法忽視的匠心?!拔蚁M嗳硕寄軌虮唤橙藗兙媲缶膽B(tài)度所打動(dòng),把這份執(zhí)著和講究代入現(xiàn)實(shí)生活,讓這個(gè)力量指引年輕人找到自己的方向?!?/p>

        匠心于木,用心于人。中國(guó)美院一直堅(jiān)持“像哲人般思考,像匠人般勞作”的“哲匠精神”。如今,我們時(shí)常能在美院校園里感受到哲與匠相糅相疊的氣息,捕捉不斷地閃耀的哲匠身形。

        在平日里,陳雨也將“哲匠精神”融入教學(xué)工作中,創(chuàng)立了肖像紀(jì)錄電影課程,課程創(chuàng)立10年來(lái),取得非常不錯(cuò)的成績(jī)。令他頗為驕傲的是,多部學(xué)生作品拿下或者入圍國(guó)內(nèi)外重要電影節(jié)獎(jiǎng)項(xiàng),如《后人》《老酒》《圣誕之誕》《僧活》《鎖》《號(hào)簿》《囚域》等。在紀(jì)錄電影創(chuàng)作中,許多真實(shí)經(jīng)驗(yàn)都成為了他們后來(lái)劇情片創(chuàng)作的珍貴來(lái)源。

        講好中國(guó)故事

        嗜之越篤,技巧越工。無(wú)論是捕捉Li的匠心,還是傾注了拍攝者的匠心,歸根到底,陳雨還是希望讓全世界看到中國(guó)匠心。

        “中國(guó)傳統(tǒng)手工藝人的身上有種強(qiáng)大的精神磁場(chǎng)。他們不只是在發(fā)揮技藝,更是在淬煉心性和人品。過(guò)去,工匠們一點(diǎn)點(diǎn)地學(xué)到手藝,再一點(diǎn)點(diǎn)用手傳遞下去,這也是人情的溫暖和無(wú)法割舍的感情?!标愑暾f(shuō),他們不僅追求技藝上的進(jìn)步與創(chuàng)新,在人品上同樣胸懷坦蕩,將自己一生所學(xué)傾囊相授,毫不藏私,令人敬佩。

        “這種‘美、這種正能量來(lái)自平淡真切的生活,讓我們的視覺(jué)、聽(tīng)覺(jué)、觸覺(jué)被徹底喚醒?!标愑曛毖裕拔覀冃枰盟囆g(shù)的方式向世界展示中國(guó)的形象?!痹陉愑昕磥?lái),紀(jì)錄片是建立人與人之間交流的最真誠(chéng)的媒介,它的職能是去探求人類(lèi)或者社會(huì)濃縮的世界,用藝術(shù)來(lái)重組生活的本原。

        今年是中國(guó)美院建校90周年,在中國(guó)美院人看來(lái),藝術(shù)從來(lái)就不只是風(fēng)花雪月,而是面向社會(huì)的有為之學(xué)。在全球視野和本土關(guān)懷的雙輪驅(qū)動(dòng)下,藝術(shù)教育實(shí)可從中提煉出更普世的人文教育體系,在專(zhuān)業(yè)教育之外有所作為。

        眼下,由陳雨操刀的兩部匠心之作正處于后期剪輯階段,一部是一個(gè)紀(jì)錄電影《遺產(chǎn)》。影片講述的是一批白領(lǐng)、大學(xué)生、企業(yè)家等不同身份的城市居民回到中國(guó)鄉(xiāng)村進(jìn)行再創(chuàng)業(yè)的故事,他們匯聚在一起,致力種植干凈的食物,漸漸經(jīng)歷了從“自救”到“他救”的角色轉(zhuǎn)變。另一部是中國(guó)美院和浙江衛(wèi)視聯(lián)合制片的作品——《田園》,講述中國(guó)村落的故事。

        “這些都是整個(gè)中華民族的無(wú)形財(cái)富和榮耀,值得我們每一代人去努力傳承?!标愑暾f(shuō),現(xiàn)代科技對(duì)手工行業(yè)的沖擊是無(wú)法想象的,當(dāng)前人心的浮躁也是顯而易見(jiàn)的,但好的作品中包含的精氣神,需要我們每個(gè)中國(guó)人盡自己一份心力,好好地維護(hù)它,繼承與發(fā)揚(yáng)它。

        陳雨,杭州臨安人。本科畢業(yè)于中國(guó)美術(shù)學(xué)院,碩士與Post-dipl?me(高等美術(shù)學(xué)院第三階段學(xué)位)畢業(yè)于法國(guó)圣埃蒂安高等美術(shù)學(xué)院?,F(xiàn)任教于中國(guó)美術(shù)學(xué)院影視與動(dòng)畫(huà)藝術(shù)學(xué)院影視系,法國(guó)斯特拉斯堡大學(xué)博士候選人(博士在讀)。獲第十三屆浙江美術(shù)獎(jiǎng)優(yōu)秀作品獎(jiǎng)、法國(guó)弗朗什孔泰(Franche-comté)電影寫(xiě)作基金獎(jiǎng)等。

        This is a story about craftsmanship and about how a disabled man achieved inner peace and satisfaction through devotion and passion.

        , a short film directed by Chen Yu, a teacher of the School of Film, TV and Animation of China Academy of Art, won the Best Short Film accolade from FIFMA 2018. “We were deeply moved by the playwriting, the motif chosen by the director as well as the power of its presentation,” the judging panel concluded.

        The biennial International Film Festival for Fine Crafts is an invitation to discover fine craft professions from around the world, through image and cinema. Through a large selection of documentaries, dramas and experimental films, accompanied by encounters, exhibitions and other events which invite exchanging and sharing, FIFMA reveals the secrets of a unique creative universe that eulogizes ingenuity.

        The painstaking effort put into the short film by the director also echoes what the film strives to convey to the world - the “China craftsmanship”, which also matches the keynote of the prestigious film festival.

        Chens film is based on the true life story of a woodcarving master. All by chance, Chen Yu met a young student of the woodcarving master; and his admiration knew no bounds at the sight of a wooden lion created by the young students master. The vividness and precision of the artwork, made by the master who was hearing-impaired, moved him deeply. The young artist shared the story of his master with Chen Yu. The master had passed away. “He was disabled physically, but knew all the answers about life in his own humble way,” recalled the student. The story inspired Chen and the master became the prototype of the film.

        The awe-inspiring image of wooden lion is used by Chen Yu at the beginning of the film to go with a monologue by Li, the protagonist fictionalized on the basis of the master sculptor. “The hardship is beyond the imagination of outsiders, but I never quit and will never quit on what I chose to do in the first place,” said Li in the monologue.

        “We write, paint, carve or take photographs to express our thoughts in an artistic way about the world where we are living. The same is true with film-making. I relate the story of someone by envisioning myself to be in the same situation with the protagonists,” said Chen Yu.

        “We are all ‘disabled, by which I mean we are all imperfect in some way. The film also works to trigger the viewers thoughts about ‘perfection and I hope it encourages todays young people to pursue ‘perfection through the spirit of craftsmanship,” noted the director.

        The five-minute film took as long as five years to craft. Behind every frame of the final product was a story that illustrates “craftsmanship” and “perfection”. Every detail, from a backlighting, slow-motion close-up of the masters intense eyes and callus hands to the powerful monologues and carefully arranged structure, contributes to the concision and tension of the cinematic presentation. The film is convincing, compact, fresh and clean, just like a piece of art carved by the magic hands of Li.

        Working with a team from France, Chen Yu put tremendous effort into the films sound production. The breathy, fragile sound of Li, which runs throughout the monologues, constitutes a key element of the films emotional power. The film is also Chens experiment of using the ‘Paysage sonore technology in his cinematic creation. “More often than not, sound plays a more important role than images do in a film,” Chen explained.

        “The film pays tribute to the unsung heroes whose skill, dedication and blazing passion breathes new life into time-honored professions and traditions that, but for them, could well fade to grey in a generation or two. With the film having been made and released, at least the profession as well as its inheritors left a mark in the ‘a(chǎn)rt of light and shadow.”

        It is the self-torturing dedication of the maker that bestows “beauty” in an artwork. “Such perfectionism is what the film tries to convey to todays young people so that they can find a new direction and set a higher goal.”

        “Craftsmanship” is also a running theme in Chens career as a teacher at CAA. His decade-long exploration in documentary art has borne abundant fruits. Over the years, the works by his students have found their way into the worlds most prestigious film festivals.

        Chen Yu is now working on two documentary projects – one is? and the other recounts the stories about the rural reconstruction and revitalization of China. He is reaching the finishing line.
