A new motto has emerged in the last year -‘The Future is Female’. Girls and young women all around the world are more empowered than ever to defi ne their own lives and styles. These are not your classic and safe Emma Watson-type looks. Instead we’re focusing on what it takes to make a cool bad girl look work for you.

Shining Star in a Dark Night

Moody and striking, dark colors never go out of style. All black is a statement on its own, but add some striking metallic highlights and you've got the perfect contrast to keep people looking. SIMONGAO has perfected that balance in his Spring 2017 collection. Think deep purple skirts with metallic gold woven in and shimmery, structured bomber jackets paired with a tight black crop top. One of the most fun and unexpected ways to add shine to your favorite bad girl look is a pair of sparkly shoes, preferably something with a platform so that everyone knows who is in charge.

The bold glamour of 1970s disco is a major infl uence on designer SIMONGAO's Spring 2017 collection. Some of the best pieces are those that stand out with their material and generous architecture but are also tight in all the right places. The sex appeal in a long, slinky dress is the way it covers the body while perfectly highlighting the curves underneath. Of course, cool girls are never afraid show a little skin but it is important to make sure it's perfectly balanced with material. A mod dress will cover the top part of the body but leave plenty of leg sticking out from a perfectly structured bottom hem.

Not A Hair Out of Place

Bad hair can kill a perfectly bold outfi t since cool girl style is all about owning the look from head to foot. Dutch fashion designer Iris Van Herpen studied under the legendary Alexander McQueen and his endlessly edgy style is echoed in her Spring 2017 couture collection. Short, angular hairstyles are a great way to achieve that striking effect. Leave a bit of fringe if you want to keep the look feminine but never fear an androgynous look. Use product to make sure your hair stays where you want it. Remember, this look is based on your rules so don't let a little wind mess up your style.
