I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky,

英國(guó)桂冠詩人約翰·梅斯菲爾德（J o h n Masefield，1878–1967）于1902年出版了第一本詩集《鹽水謠》（Salt-Water Ballads），《戀海情》就是其中最著名的詩篇。而本期所采用的翻譯版本來自我國(guó)著名英語詩歌翻譯家黃杲炘先生—他提出的“兼顧頓數(shù)、字?jǐn)?shù)和韻式”三兼顧譯法至今仍是最嚴(yán)格的英詩漢譯原則。

在這首詩歌當(dāng)中，詩人運(yùn)用了擬人、明喻、暗喻等修辭手法，使得整首詩大氣鮮活，且畫面感十足。此外，首語重復(fù)法（anaphora，每個(gè)詩節(jié)都有以And開頭的分句）和頭韻（alliteration，如第十行以w開頭的幾個(gè)詞）給詩歌賦予了豐富的節(jié)奏和韻律，又令整個(gè)長(zhǎng)句讀起來十分緊湊，猶如大海波濤般延綿起伏。本詩表達(dá)了詩人對(duì)于遨游大海、自由遠(yuǎn)行的向往，同時(shí)暗含了生活如同遠(yuǎn)洋航行，直至最后歸于平靜的深層含義。詩人十分向往大海，熱情歌頌壯美的自然風(fēng)光，卻不像湖畔派詩人那樣消極避世，而是積極地面對(duì)自然，積極生活，追求自由，因而全詩洋溢出一種高昂的基調(diào)，磅礴而大氣，顯得分外不同。
