A Brief Analysis on Techniques in Mark Twain’s Satirical Works

This paper is generally composed of five part，they are partly introduction，about Mark Twain and his famous works，current research state，techniques in Mark Twain’s satirical work and conclusion. Key words： Mark Twain；Techniques；Satirical works

Mark Twain was not only the first and the most influential literary celebrity in the United States，but also in the history of world literature.His techniques include the humorous style，irony，exaggeration and humanism.

一、Current Research State at abroad and home

Mark Twain Lived through the development process from free competition to monopoly，he stood in the position of the progress of democracy，on inheriting the tradition of American Western humor literature tradition，formed its own unique artistic style.Mr.Lu Xun once translated Mark Twain's diary，who gave his work a positive evaluation.Lao She delivered in Mark Twain's death speech，praised him as the outstanding American writer of critical realism，who is also an active critic of society，not just a joke character.

二、Techniques in Mark Twain's Satirical Works

(一)The humorous style

Mark Twain is good at using contrast to achieve a sense of humor.Mark Twain used the method by describing the conflict between the characters in the novel to reflect the style of humorous words and deeds.Mark Twain's description of the image of the children is also reflected in the works of humor in a way of style.Mark Twain described the conflict between words and deeds of characters in the novel through contrast.The description of the image of the child and the factors of comedy and tragedy factors combine skills to reflect unique style of humor in his works.

(二)Irony

Mark Twain，a writer who witnessed the development of American capitalism from the initial free capitalism to monopoly capitalism transition.Facing the social reality so cruel，Mark Twain did not like other critical realism writers as directly to criticize and expose the social evils，but with its unique way very exaggerated to the events of the allegorical description，not in order to amuse blindly to have higher ideal，let people in jokingly ridicule taste bloody social reality.

(三)Exaggeration

Extreme exaggeration of the romantic is one of the styles in Mark Twain's humorous language.in the ascetic the Ministry of works，in order to obtain a satisfactory result of art，he was whimsical to let a man married to seventy two wives，only rely on the typical and special artistic conception，the polygamous of families in this system and ideas exposed its backwardness and selfish，which has captured the details of this，using the romantic extreme exaggeration.

(四)Humanism

The enduring novel named Hakbely Finn's adventures，which focuses on the social and historical perspectives of Mark Twain's profound humanism and its significant position in the history of literature.This work explores the freedom and development of human nature.Religion，social norms，patriarchal system，and slavery are all the products of human civilization.Emphasis on the evil of human nature has reached appalling proportions in the shadow of human civilization.

三、Conclusion

Mark Twain，the brilliant represent of the American realism literature in the late nineteenth century，is famous for humorous and irony writing styles around the world.This paper talked about his humorous style，irony，exaggeration and humanism of the writing techniques in Mark Twain’s satirical works.
