新修辭視域下的時(shí)政新聞翻譯

以新修辭理論為指導(dǎo)，對(duì)比分析時(shí)政新聞翻譯在話語(yǔ)內(nèi)容、訴求策略、建構(gòu)方式、美學(xué)手段上的差異，通過(guò)實(shí)例的分析，提出相應(yīng)的翻譯策略。

一、引言

新聞，是指通過(guò)報(bào)紙、電臺(tái)、廣播、電視臺(tái)、互聯(lián)網(wǎng)等媒體途徑傳播的信息的一種稱謂，是對(duì)新近發(fā)生事實(shí)的報(bào)道。而時(shí)政新聞，顧名思義，應(yīng)當(dāng)指關(guān)于國(guó)家政治生活中新近或正在發(fā)生的事實(shí)的報(bào)道，是時(shí)新、重要的關(guān)于時(shí)事政治的新聞。其特征是：政治性、政策性、廣泛性、信息性和時(shí)效性。本文從修辭視角出發(fā)，通過(guò)話語(yǔ)內(nèi)容、訴求策略、建構(gòu)方式、美學(xué)手段等四方面的分析，提出對(duì)應(yīng)的翻譯策略，希望對(duì)時(shí)政新聞的翻譯實(shí)踐有一定有益補(bǔ)充。

二、中英修辭對(duì)比

(一)話語(yǔ)內(nèi)容對(duì)比

1.英語(yǔ)注重傳遞具體信息，多用事實(shí)和數(shù)字來(lái)表達(dá)和限定，根據(jù)需要介紹相關(guān)背景，以使受眾信服。用詞簡(jiǎn)潔明晰，語(yǔ)意清新，用詞生動(dòng)，表達(dá)客觀。而漢語(yǔ)多用一種固定的典型的寫作模式。慣用四字詞，模糊語(yǔ)，套語(yǔ)，大量使用凝練和抽象的語(yǔ)言進(jìn)行概括，用詞華麗有時(shí)不免流于空泛無(wú)物。

例1：

Africa's Catholic Church is expanding quickly，with the number of faithful expected to more than double to half a billion in 2050.The number of Muslims on the continent is also forecast to rise by about the same amount to 670 million.

譯文：

天主教在非信徒數(shù)增長(zhǎng)迅速，可靠數(shù)據(jù)表明，到2050年，其信徒數(shù)將翻兩倍多，達(dá)到5億人左右。據(jù)估計(jì)，穆斯林在非數(shù)目也會(huì)有所增加，增幅與天主教相同，將達(dá)到6.7億人左右。

例2：

要堅(jiān)持綠色辦奧，提升全社會(huì)環(huán)保意識(shí)，加強(qiáng)環(huán)境治理和污染防控，把綠色發(fā)展理念貫穿籌辦工作始終。

譯文：

We should pursue a green Winter Olympics with the notion of green development throughout the preparation and by enhancing the environmental awareness of the society and strengthening the work of environmental governance together with pollution prevention and control.

2.英語(yǔ)標(biāo)題多用名詞和非謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞，很少使用形容詞和副詞，以最小的篇幅容納最大的信息量，并確保準(zhǔn)確、客觀。名詞有較強(qiáng)的表意功能，信息含量大，同時(shí)又有廣泛的語(yǔ)法兼容性，少動(dòng)詞。漢語(yǔ)標(biāo)題頻繁使用動(dòng)詞、形容詞，支撐整個(gè)句子主體，簡(jiǎn)短，多用名稱，少用謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞。

例1：The Temptation of Expanding U.S.Military Involvement

美國(guó)軍事擴(kuò)張的誘因

例2：Inhofe，leading climate change skeptic，may say ‘oui’ to Paris

氣候變化主要質(zhì)疑者英霍夫或?qū)⒊鱿屠杪?lián)合國(guó)氣候峰會(huì)

例3：習(xí)近平對(duì)辦好北京冬奧會(huì)作出重要指示

President Xi Gives Notes on Beijing Winter Olympics

3.英語(yǔ)很少出現(xiàn)類語(yǔ)疊加的現(xiàn)象；漢語(yǔ)則普遍存在類語(yǔ)疊加的現(xiàn)象，以避免混淆，加強(qiáng)語(yǔ)氣或者為了保持句式上的排比。

例1：The“one-man truth squad”routine is not new for Inhofe.

譯文：對(duì)英霍夫來(lái)說(shuō)，采取單槍匹馬為真理而戰(zhàn)的路線并不是第一次。

例2：“要堅(jiān)持綠色辦奧...堅(jiān)持共享辦奧...堅(jiān)持開(kāi)放辦奧...堅(jiān)持廉潔辦奧”

譯文：“We should pursue a green Winter Olympics...We should adhere to a shared Winter Olympics...We should hold fast to an open Winter Olympics...We should assure the world of a transparent and clean Winter Olympics.”

4.英語(yǔ)必須有主語(yǔ)，句子邏輯較為清晰；漢語(yǔ)多無(wú)主句，散句，邏輯關(guān)系不是很明確。

例1：

Like the Obama policy，it will fail because it ignores the limitations of the narrow American-led coalition Washington has assembled.As it fails，the pressures to add more U.S.troops will grow.

譯文：

希拉里的策略將會(huì)如奧巴馬那樣失敗，因?yàn)樗雎粤擞扇A盛頓組織起來(lái)的這個(gè)以美國(guó)為首的狹小聯(lián)盟存在的局限性，一旦失敗，加派更多的軍隊(duì)就面臨更大的壓力。

例2：要大力弘揚(yáng)先進(jìn)模范的崇高精神，加強(qiáng)衛(wèi)生應(yīng)急機(jī)制與能力建設(shè)，深化醫(yī)藥衛(wèi)生體制改革，為推進(jìn)健康中國(guó)建設(shè)、全球衛(wèi)生合作再立新功。

譯文：We must carry forward lofty spirits of role models，improve health emergency mechanism and capacity，deepen the reform on medical system so as to promote the development of a more healthy china and cooperation in the global health.

(二)訴求策略對(duì)比

1.英文比較講究信息性，善于運(yùn)用訴求手段，比較關(guān)注受眾個(gè)人利益和公共利益，常用“you”，“we” “us”等；多用主動(dòng)語(yǔ)態(tài)敘事。漢語(yǔ)中頻繁使用政治口號(hào)和四字短語(yǔ)。注重情感訴求，許多漢語(yǔ)讀者喜歡華麗、抒情的文體和熱情奔放的語(yǔ)言，容易為其所感染。

例1：

“I don’t know if I’ll repeat what I’ve done several times before，which is to go over and be the bad guy，the one-man truth squad，and tell the truth，that they’re going to be lied to by the Obama administration，” Inhofe said in October.

譯文：

“我不知道是否會(huì)重復(fù)做我已經(jīng)做過(guò)很多次的事，即再次成為一個(gè)千夫所指的壞家伙，單槍匹馬為真理而戰(zhàn)，把真相大白于天下，他們即將被奧巴馬政府所欺騙。” 英霍夫十月份說(shuō)。

例2：

堅(jiān)持開(kāi)放辦奧，借鑒北京奧運(yùn)會(huì)和其他國(guó)家辦賽經(jīng)驗(yàn)，弘揚(yáng)奧林匹克精神，加強(qiáng)中外體育交流，推動(dòng)?xùn)|西文明交融，展示中國(guó)良好形象。

譯文：

We should hold fast to an open Winter Olympics by learning from our experience of Beijing Olympics and that of other countries so as to carry forward the Olympic spirit，enhance sports communication between China and foreign countries，push forward multilateral sports interaction hence to present a positive image of China to the world.

2.英語(yǔ)廣用直接引語(yǔ)與間接引語(yǔ)，使報(bào)道“最大限度的客觀性”，增添真實(shí)性和生動(dòng)性。而漢語(yǔ)多為間接引語(yǔ)。

例1：

The Oklahoma Republican has not yet committed to attend the Paris summit，which starts Monday.“We can’t confirm either way，” said Kristina Baum，a spokeswoman for the EPW，citing possible conflicts with Senate votes.

譯文：

巴黎氣候峰會(huì)將于周一召開(kāi)，英霍夫還未決定出席?！拔覀円泊_定不了?！杯h(huán)境和公共工程委員會(huì)的女發(fā)言人克里斯蒂娜鮑姆這么說(shuō)，還提到參議院針對(duì)此事的投票可能會(huì)出現(xiàn)分歧。

例2：

習(xí)近平希望軍地各方面始終把廣大人民群眾健康安全擺在首要位置

譯文：Xi Jingping hopes that army and civilian always give priority to people's health and security.

(三)建構(gòu)方式對(duì)比

1.英語(yǔ)多用陳述句，定語(yǔ)、狀語(yǔ)、同位語(yǔ)、介詞短語(yǔ)、分詞短語(yǔ)，以及不定式短語(yǔ)等補(bǔ)加成份以擴(kuò)展簡(jiǎn)單句來(lái)表示目的、意圖及行為結(jié)果等。漢語(yǔ)因受駢文影響，多用四字結(jié)構(gòu)，或四、五、六、七字并列結(jié)構(gòu)，對(duì)仗結(jié)構(gòu)，同時(shí)常用動(dòng)詞短語(yǔ)。

例1：The moment went viral，heaping global ridicule on Inhofe.

譯文：英霍夫這一舉動(dòng)快速傳播，引起關(guān)注，成為國(guó)際世界的笑柄。

例2：“不畏艱苦、甘于奉獻(xiàn)、救死扶傷、大愛(ài)無(wú)疆”的崇高精神

譯文：the lofty spirit of “hard work，commitment and love to heal the wounded and rescue the dying”

2.當(dāng)表達(dá)一樣觀點(diǎn)的時(shí)候，英文表達(dá)通常比中文更為簡(jiǎn)潔；漢語(yǔ)在表達(dá)上，“限定詞 + 動(dòng)詞”是常見(jiàn)的構(gòu)詞方式，也是現(xiàn)代時(shí)政新聞最大的特點(diǎn)。多用于雙音節(jié)詞組中。

例：

堅(jiān)持共享辦奧，積極調(diào)動(dòng)社會(huì)力量參與辦奧，提高城市管理水平和社會(huì)文明程度，加快冰雪運(yùn)動(dòng)發(fā)展和普及，使廣大人民群眾受益。

譯文：

We should adhere to a shared Winter Olympics by emphasizing active social involvement in the preparation，upgrading city management and awareness of public welfare as well as by further developing and popularizing winter sports to benefit the people.

(四)美學(xué)手段對(duì)比

英語(yǔ)敘述直接，態(tài)度明確，常用借喻、轉(zhuǎn)喻(不直接說(shuō)出所要說(shuō)的事物，而使用另一個(gè)與之相關(guān)的事物名稱)等修辭手段，使新聞報(bào)道具有生動(dòng)性。漢語(yǔ)因文體限制，一般運(yùn)用的有排比，比喻等。

例1：The Oklahoma Republican has not yet committed to attend the Paris summit，which starts Monday.

(“The Oklahoma Republican”：不直接點(diǎn)出“英霍夫”這一名字，而是用此表達(dá)表示。)

譯文：巴黎氣候峰會(huì)將于周一召開(kāi)，英霍夫還未決定出席。

例2：堅(jiān)持廉潔辦奧，嚴(yán)格預(yù)算管理，控制辦奧成本，強(qiáng)化過(guò)程監(jiān)督，讓冬奧會(huì)像冰雪一樣純潔干凈。

譯文：We should assure the world of a transparent and clean Winter Olympics featuring strict budget，limited cost and strengthened process supervision wherein to make the Winter Olympics clean and pure.

三、對(duì)翻譯的啟示

(一)套用受眾熟悉的建構(gòu)方式

對(duì)一些功能相同，但中英文各有固定表現(xiàn)方式的詞句，翻譯時(shí)應(yīng)盡量套用或借用，以符合受眾預(yù)期。主要為專有名詞、新詞和固定表達(dá)。

黨中央、國(guó)務(wù)院 the Party Central Committee and the State Council

對(duì)外關(guān)系委員會(huì) Council on Foreign Relations

中國(guó)夢(mèng) the China dream

中國(guó)特色大國(guó)外交 big country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics

(二)注意把握詞語(yǔ)的政治內(nèi)涵和情感色彩

許多漢語(yǔ)讀者喜歡華麗、抒情的文體和熱情奔放的語(yǔ)言，容易為其所感染。但西方讀者往往更習(xí)慣于相信就事論事的陳述，不喜歡感情色彩過(guò)于顯露。(陳小慰，2013：213-214)

例：我國(guó)全力援助非洲疫區(qū)國(guó)家的行動(dòng)，彰顯了我國(guó)負(fù)責(zé)任大國(guó)的形象，為鞏固和發(fā)展中非友誼作出了重要貢獻(xiàn)。

譯文：These show China’s sense of responsibility as a large country，which contributes to the consolidation and development of friendship between China and Africa.

(三)釋義

漢語(yǔ)大量排比句，大量使用重復(fù)，直譯會(huì)顯得冗長(zhǎng)、累贅，可以舍棄原文說(shuō)法，采用釋義的方法進(jìn)行簡(jiǎn)化或明晰化處理，譯出其內(nèi)容，使信息簡(jiǎn)潔明確，幫助譯文預(yù)期功能得以更好實(shí)現(xiàn)。譯者必須首先理解原文含義，或者嘗試對(duì)原文換一種角度表達(dá)，然后再進(jìn)行翻譯。(陳小慰，2011：121)

例：中方在峰會(huì)期間將宣布的中非務(wù)實(shí)合作新舉措內(nèi)容之豐富、力度之大、覆蓋面之廣，堪稱歷屆論壇之最。

譯文：Compared with previous forums，the new measures of cooperation are more substantial，comprehensive and cover more areas.

(四)刪減縮合

由于語(yǔ)言差異，在譯作語(yǔ)言中明了得體的表達(dá)，翻成另一種語(yǔ)言可能就會(huì)繁贅不堪，或新聞重點(diǎn)不夠清晰突出，或違反譯語(yǔ)語(yǔ)用要求。為了突出重點(diǎn)，在有限的篇幅中讓讀者快速了解新聞主要內(nèi)容，也是為了語(yǔ)用得體。(陳小慰，2011：122)標(biāo)題中尤其突出。

例：新華網(wǎng)北京11月25日電(記者吳晶、胡浩)埃博拉出血熱疫情防控工作表彰大會(huì)25日在京舉行。中共中央總書記、國(guó)家主席、中央軍委主席習(xí)近平作出重要指示。

譯文：Xinhua reported that Xi made the remarks at an awards ceremony on prevention and control of Ebola hemorrhagic fever in Beijing on November 25.

(五)改寫

英語(yǔ)新聞側(cè)重客觀表述事實(shí)和傳遞具體信息，口語(yǔ)體，漢語(yǔ)則喜歡使用高度凝練和抽象的語(yǔ)言進(jìn)行概括。因此要考慮使用改寫，用譯文讀者熟悉的表達(dá)方式重組原語(yǔ)信息。(陳小慰，2011：124)

例：這是一次歷史性盛會(huì)。中非領(lǐng)導(dǎo)人將聚首南非，共商合作大計(jì)，向世界展現(xiàn)發(fā)展中國(guó)家團(tuán)結(jié)的力量。

譯文：This summit is a historic event.Leaders from China and Africa will gather together in South Africa to discuss issues concerning cooperation and show the world the strength of unity among developing countries.
