成績來源于專注，要想取得成績首先要學(xué)會專注。同樣，同學(xué)們要取得成績，首先要學(xué)會如何用英語表達“專注”。在基礎(chǔ)英語的學(xué)習(xí)材料中，表示“專心于”、“埋頭于”、“致力于”和“沉浸于”的結(jié)構(gòu)俯拾皆是。

[“動詞+反身代詞+介詞”表示“專心于”、“致力于”]

1. apply oneself to ...表示“致力于……；集中精力于……”。

Over the next months， he applied himself to improving the technique. 接下來的幾個月，他一門心思改進技術(shù)。

2. bury oneself in ...表示“專心致志干某事”。

Since she left， hes buried himself in his work. 自他走后他全心撲在工作上。

3. concern oneself with/about表示“關(guān)心；擔心”。

She concerned herself with welfare projects， especially the China Walfare Institute for women and children. 她關(guān)心福利事業(yè)，尤其是中國婦幼福利院的事業(yè)。

4. devote oneself to表示“獻身；致力；專心”。

After he has retired， he will devote himself to gardening. 退休后，他將致力于園藝。

這一短語還可表述成：devote ones time/life to doing。

She devoted all her life to medical work for Chinese women and children. 她一生致力于中國婦幼衛(wèi)生事業(yè)。

I discovered that Lin Qiaozhi had devoted her whole life to her patients and had chosen not to have a family of her own. 我發(fā)現(xiàn)林巧稚把畢生都奉獻給了病人，而自己卻選擇了獨身。

5. lose oneself in表示“專心于”。

When deeply losing herself in writing， which she often was， she would lock herself alone in the study. 經(jīng)常是這樣的，她一旦要專心寫作，她就要把自己一個人反鎖在書房里。

[“be+動詞的-ed分詞+介詞”表示“專注”]

1. be absorbed in多表示“被……吸引住”，也可以表示“專注于……；聚精會神于……”。

She was completely absorbed in her own affairs. 她一心一意在做自己的事。

2. be buried in原意是“被埋葬在……地方”，間接地表示“埋頭于……工作”。另外bury oneself in也表示“專心致志于……；埋頭于……工作”。

Seeing the picture， he was buried in thoughts. 看到這張照片，他陷入沉思。

As you know， Im still buried in books at the school you are so familiar with. 如你所知，我還在你所熟悉的那所學(xué)校埋頭讀書。

3. be devoted to接名詞或-ing分詞表示“致力于”。

You will never gain success unless you are fully devoted to your work. 除非你全心全意地去工作，否則你將永遠不會獲得成功。

4. be concerned about/with表示“關(guān)心；擔心”。

You will tell your friend that you are concerned about him/her and you will meet after class and talk then. 你要告訴你的朋友你關(guān)心他/她，下課后再見，再交談。

5. be lost in表示“迷失于；迷路于”，可以間接地表示專注。

They all appeared to be lost in the routine of their work. 他們好象一個個都埋頭于日常單調(diào)的工作當中。

注意：第一、二兩類表達法有些可以相互轉(zhuǎn)換結(jié)構(gòu)，表達的意思相同。

[動詞（短語）+介詞on]

1. centre on表示“集中于……”。其中的介詞可替換成upon， around和round。

Discussions were centred on unemployment problems. 討論圍繞著失業(yè)問題這一中心問題進行。

2. concentrate on/upon表示“集中（思想、精力、注意力等）于……”。

The painter does not attempt to paint objects as we see them with our eyes， but instead con-centrates on certain qualities of the object， using colour， line and shape to represent them. 畫家并不打算把我們眼睛看到的東西如實地畫出來，而是集中展現(xiàn)物體的某些品質(zhì)特性，用色彩、線條和形狀把他們呈現(xiàn)出來。

這一表達可以表述成concentrate ones attention on/upon。

名詞concentration表示“專心；專注”。

It takes a lot of concentration and a great sense of balance to stay on it. 站在（球）上得一直全神貫注，還需要有極強的注意力和極好的平衡感。

3. focus...on原意是“（使）聚焦于……”，引申為“（使）集中（注意力）于……”。

They focus on keeping their soil rich and free of disease. 他們著眼于保持土壤肥沃和遠離疾病。

4. fix ones eye/attention/minds/thoughts on表示“把眼光/注意力集中在……”。

Please fix your thoughts on what Im saying， or you wont be able to solve the problem. 請集中精神聽我的話，否則你就解不了這道題。

He stood there， his attention fixed on the notice on the wall. 他站在那兒，集中注意力在看墻上的布告。

[用含mind的短語表示“專心于”]

1. keep ones mind on ...表示“專心于，專注于……”。

Keep your mind on what youre doing. Dont let your attention wander. 專心做你的事吧，別走神了。

2. bend ones mind to sb./sth.表示“專心……”。

The aged professor bends his mind to his research work. 那位老教授專心于他的研究工作。

[用含heart的短語表示“專心于”]

1. put ones heart into表示“一心撲在……上；對……全力以赴”。

Nothing is impossible if you put your heart into it. 世上無難事，只怕有心人。

這一短語還可以寫成put ones whole heart and soul into。

2. lose ones heart to sb./sth. 表示“專心于；傾心于；愛上”。

He lost his heart to a peasant girl. 他愛上了一個農(nóng)家姑娘。

注意：不含所有格名詞或代詞的短語lose heart表示“喪失信心；泄氣”。

[用attention及其派生詞表示“專心”]

1. pay attention to表示“注意”。

Good software shortens that passage without bringing attention to it. 好的軟件縮短這一過程，并且不將注意力集中在這一過程上。

2. 副詞attentively在句中作狀語，可以表示“注意地，聚精會神地”。

I believe that I had never listened so attentively. 我覺得我從來沒有這樣用心聽講過。

3. 介詞短語with attention在句中作狀語，也可以表示“專心地”。

He always listens to his teacher with attention in class. 他上課時總是專心聽講。

總結(jié)起來，有動詞absorb， apply， bury， centre， concentrate， concern， devote， focus， lose和名詞mind， heart可用來表示“專心于；致力于”。
