This paper deals with the fauna of some Hymenoptera families in Iran. Totally 31 species from the follow families were collected and identified: Argidae (2), Cephidae (2), Chalcididae (1), Eucharitidae (1), Cimbicidae (1), Eupelmidae (2), Eurytomidae (2), Evaniidae (2), Gasteruptiidae (2), Leucospidae (4), Ormyridae (2), Perilampidae (7), and Tetracampidae (3).Calameutagrombczewskii(Jakovlev, 1891) (Cephidae),Corynissimilis(Mocsáry, 1880) (Cimbicidae),Gasteruptionundulatum(Abeille, 1879) (Gasteruptiidae),PerilampusnitensWalker, 1834 (Perilampidae),Epiclerustemenus(Walker, 1839) andTetracampeimpressaF?rster, 1841 (both Tetracampidae) are new records for the fauna of Iran.

        Hymenoptera; fauna; new record; Iran

        1 Introduction

The Hymenoptera (sawflies, wasps, bees and ants) are one of the four largest insect orders, with more than 146 000 described species (Huber, 2009), and contains ca. 13% of all described insect species (Bogusch et al., 2007). Conservative estimates suggest that over 600 000 species of Hymenoptera may exist (Heraty 2009, although much higher numbers of 1-2.5 million species have been proposed (Stork, 1997; Klopfstein et al., 2013). This places them behind the Coleoptera and Lepidoptera but some hymenopterists argue that if undescribed species were included, the Hymenoptera would be more species-rich than all other orders (Grissell, 1999). The oldest fossils belong to the family Xyelidae and date back to the middle Triassic (about 235 Ma) (Rasnitsyn, 2006), but recent age estimates based on molecular data suggest a much earlier origin in the late Carboniferous (about 311 Ma) (Davis et al., 2010; Ronquist et al., 2012).

Hymenoptera assume a wide range of various life cycles, some are phytophagous and others parasitic (Huber 2009; Vilhelmsen et al.,2011), occupy a wide range of ecological niches, and have undergone several transitions to eusociality (Cardinal et al., 2011; Pilgrim et al., 2008). Most species are the parasitoids of other insects and thus fulfill a vital role in most terrestrial ecosystems, and many aculeates are economically important pollinators or predators. However there are many more undescribed species of parasitoid wasps than stinging Hymenoptera. Among parasitoid wasps Ichneumonoidea and Chalcidoidea are especially species-rich (Bacher, 2012).

        2 Material and Methods

The materials were collected from different regions of Iran during 2010-2014 by Malaise traps and sweeping net, and also rearing of hosts in optimum condition (25±2) ℃, (65±5)% RH, L∶D=14∶10 in incubator for the Chalcidoidea parasitoids. The specimens were put in alcohol 75% or mounted on triangular labels and were examined with a stereoscopic binocular microscope. Classification, nomenclature and distribution data of Chalcidoidea were taken from Noyes (2015) and for other taxa, the related references are given.

        3 Results

In total 31 species of 13 families Argidae, Cephidae, Chalcididae, Eucharitidae, Cimbicidae, Eupelmidae, Eurytomidae, Evaniidae, Gasteruptiidae, Leucospidae, Ormyridae, Perilampidae and Tetracampidae have been collected from different regions of Iran, which of these 6 species are newly recorded from Iran.
