Objective To study the impact of humanistic nursing on promoting the comfort of newborns. Methods A total of 122 newborns delivered between May 2013 and May 2014 were selected and randomly divided into an observation group (n=61) and a control group (n=61). The control group was given routine nursing care, while the observation group was provided with humanistic nursing. The characteristics of the newborns′ crying were analyzed before the intervention. The everyday crying numbers, the sleeping time and diseases of both groups were compared before and after the intervention. Results No significant differences were found in the crying of the two groups before the intervention. The number of crying in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group (t=9.491,P=0.000), while the SpO2and sleep time were significantly better than those in the control group (t=9.604,P=0.000,t=6.072,P=0.000). The time for the babies to get better, recover and stay in ICU of the former group was significantly shorter than the latter. Conclusion Humanistic nursing can effectively reduce neonatal crying and promote the rehabilitation of newborns as soon as possible.
