泰戈?duì)枺?861年—1941年）是印度著名詩人、文學(xué)家、社會活動家、哲學(xué)家和印度民族主義者。1913年，他以《吉檀迦利》成為第一位獲得諾貝爾文學(xué)獎的亞洲人。他的詩中含有深刻的宗教和哲學(xué)的見解，在印度享有史詩的地位，代表作有《吉檀迦利》、《飛鳥集》、《園丁集》、《新月集》、《最后的詩篇》、《戈拉》等。

1. If you shed1 tears when you miss the sun， you also miss the stars.

劍鞘保護(hù)著劍的鋒利，卻不在乎它自己的遲鈍。

11. “The learned say that your lights will one day be no more.” said the firefly to the stars. The stars made no answer.

螢火蟲對星星說：“學(xué)者說你的光總有一天會熄滅。”星星笑而不語。

12. The dust receives insult8 and in return offers her flowers.

塵土承受屈辱，卻開出鮮花作為回報(bào)。

13. God is ashamed9 when the prosperous boasts10 of his special favor.

當(dāng)富貴榮華之人吹噓說自己得到上帝的恩惠時，上帝卻尷尬不已。

14. Not hammer-strokes， but dance of the water sings the pebbles into perfection.
