Paws was sitting on a pine branch(樹枝). He thought*, “Maybe the pine tree didn’t become very big, but I became* very small.*”
A blue bird landed(降落) next to* Paws. Paws thought, “The bird is as big as* me. I was right. Presto’s magic soup made me very small.*”
“Hello! My name is Tit Tinley. Why did you become so small?” asked the bird. “I’m Paws. I tasted(嘗) Presto’s magic soup, and then I became small,” said Paws.

“How can I go home now?” Paws was sad.
“Try to leap(跳躍) from branch to branch like squirrels do,” said the bird.*
Then Paws ran, leaped and reached* a nearby(鄰近的) branch. But when he leaped to the next branch, he could not reach it and fell into a pile of snow.*
The bird flew* down and asked, “Are you OK, my friend?”
“I’m OK. But I have to(不得不) walk home now.” Paws felt* down(情緒低落的).

Eagle Ernest flew down to Paws and listened to the story of how he became so small.* Then he said, “Come, jump on my back*! I will fly you home.”
“Great! I always(一直) wanted to fly. Thank you very much!” Paws climbed on Ernest’s back and the eagle took off*.

Paws thanked Tit Tinley and Eagle Ernest for their help. Then he walked home happily. “This is a great adventure. I made new friends and flew on the back of an eagle.” Paws thought.
