Security and Privacy concerns were always termed as major challenges for the perpetuation of cloud storage and cloud computing businesses. iCloud which is pioneered by Apple Inc., was recently cracked by a hacker. Earlier, it was revealed that a hacking group was behind this whole 1)cyber crime activity. But now, as per the latest reports suggested by an online resource 2)CBS, a hacker has broken into the iCloud system and 3)siphoned off private photos of actresses, which are now being 4)slobbered over on social media by 5)lascivious celebrity stalkers.
The iCloud hacker has posted unclothed photos of 100s of Hollywood celebrities that were claimed to have come from their iCloud accounts using iCloud security vulnerability. Victims of the hacking include stars like Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Upton, Kirsten Dunst, Miley Cyrus, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Kim Kardarshian and sisters, Coco Austin, Paris Hilton, Heidi Klum, Britney Spears, Rihanna, Beyoncé, and the list goes on…
Apple did not respond to this iCloud leak saga immediately, but some of the exposed actresses were outraged. Representatives of one star, Jennifer Lawrence, told CBS that the leakage was a flagrant violation of privacy, while another actress’ representative denied the images were of her client.
One celebrity Mary Elizabeth Winstead reacted to the news and said that she had deleted all those images from her PC and the cloud long before. And is now shocked how iCloud can archive all those deleted images still and save them in its database. She wants to hear the purpose of such data storage practices followed by iCloud.
This episode gave fresh ammo to privacy advocates who have warned that nothing can stay secure online and no matter how vigilant you are, they still spill out when the time comes.
It also gives us a clear understanding that it is not just individuals who have to worry about cloud computing security. Many corporations and businesses have moved onto the IP Storage platform recently, and they also have to start showing a bit of concern for adopting this $20 billion industry that is growing at more than 50% annually.
It makes you wonder how much truth exists in this recent revelation against the Apple iCloud Saga. But one thing is proven, and that is to be more careful when uploading content to the public cloud.
