《羅馬假日》是1953年由美國(guó)派拉蒙公司拍攝的浪漫愛(ài)情片。影片由格利高里·派克和奧黛麗·赫本聯(lián)袂主演，取得了巨大的成功，成為好萊塢黑白電影的經(jīng)典之作。奧黛麗·赫本也因該片獲得了她一生最重要的獎(jiǎng)項(xiàng)——奧斯卡最佳女主角獎(jiǎng)。

As a crown princess， Ann has started a publicized tour of several European capitals. In Rome， which is the last stop， Ann becomes frustrated[1] because of her stressful[2] responsibilities. Her doctor gives her a sedative to help her fall asleep， but she sneaks out the embassy to experience Rome on her own.

安作為一名皇室的公主，正在對(duì)歐洲一些國(guó)家首都進(jìn)行公開(kāi)訪問(wèn)。在訪問(wèn)的最后一站羅馬，安對(duì)第二天要進(jìn)行的工作感到壓力重重而情緒失控。她的醫(yī)生給她注射了鎮(zhèn)定劑來(lái)幫助她安睡，然而公主卻在鎮(zhèn)定劑生效前就偷偷溜出大使館，希望自由自在地體驗(yàn)真實(shí)的羅馬。

The sedative comes into effect before long[3]. Princess Ann falls asleep on a bench. Meanwhile， Joe Bradley， who is an American reporter， happens to find her. He thinks she is just a drunken[4] girl. He tries to help her go home by taxi， but drowsy[5] Ann has no willing to cooperate. Finally， for safetys sake， Joe decides to let her spend the night in his apartment.

The next morning， Joe is late for work due to oversleeping. The editor tells Joe that the press conference for the princess has been canceled because the princess has fallen ill suddenly. Joe then sees a picture of the princess and immediately[6] recognizes that she is the young lady last

night. Joe soon realizes this could be an opportunity.

第二天上午，因晚起而遲到的喬來(lái)到工作的報(bào)社，主編告訴他原本準(zhǔn)備的公主見(jiàn)面會(huì)因?yàn)楣魍蝗簧《∠恕炭吹搅艘粡埞鞯恼掌?，立馬認(rèn)出她就是昨晚上自己遇到的那位年輕女子。喬仿佛看到一筆橫財(cái)在向他招手。

Joe hurries home and offers to show Ann around Rome， hiding the fact that he is a reporter. At the same time， he contacts his photographer friend， Irving Radovich， to take pictures of the princess secretly. However， Ann rejects Joes suggestion and chooses to wander in Rome alone instead.

喬立刻趕回公寓，對(duì)公主隱瞞了自己的媒體記者的身份，并主動(dòng)提出帶公主參觀羅馬。同時(shí)他也暗地里聯(lián)系他的攝影師朋友——?dú)W文·拉多維奇，讓他在暗中拍下公主的照片。然而，公主拒絕了喬的陪同，選擇了獨(dú)自在羅馬街頭閑晃。

Enjoying her precious freedom， Ann does several things she wants， such as buying a pair of flat shoes， getting a haircut and so on. Joe follows her and meets her as expected. In the rest of the day， Joe shows Ann some scenic[7] sights in Rome by motorcycle. During the little trip， Ann shares with Joe about

her dream， which is living a normal life as an ordinary girl without her burdensome[8] responsibilities. That night， the government agents find Princess Ann at a dancing party on a boat and try to take her back. But after wild chaos， Joe and Ann escape successfully. Through all this， they fall in love with each other gradually. However， Ann knows clearly that a relationship between them is impossible. So she says goodbye to with great pain and returns to the embassy.

公主安享受著這難得的自由時(shí)光，做了一些想做的事情，如買(mǎi)平底鞋、剪短發(fā)等等。喬一直暗中跟隨，不出意料地再次“偶遇”她。接下來(lái)的時(shí)間里，喬騎著摩托車(chē)帶著公主周游羅馬，去了很多景點(diǎn)。途中，安告訴喬她長(zhǎng)久以來(lái)的一個(gè)夢(mèng)想，那就是做一個(gè)普通的女孩，過(guò)普通人的生活，拋開(kāi)那些繁重責(zé)任的負(fù)擔(dān)。當(dāng)天晚上，當(dāng)兩人正在水上舞會(huì)跳舞時(shí)，政府官員找到了公主并試圖將她帶回去。在一片混亂中，喬和安巧妙逃脫了。經(jīng)歷過(guò)這些事情，兩人逐漸墜入愛(ài)河。然而安清楚地知道他們兩人是不可能在一起的。于是，在無(wú)限的痛苦中，她和喬道別，回到了大使館。

The next day， Princess Ann appears for the delayed press conference， Joe and Irving let her know that her secret is safe with them indirectly. When asked which city she admires most， Ann finally drops the diplomatic language and speaks out her true thought：

第二天，公主出現(xiàn)在延遲舉行的新聞發(fā)布會(huì)上，喬和歐文間接地讓公主知道，她的秘密將永不外泄。而在被問(wèn)到“旅途中最欣賞的城市”時(shí)，公主終于沒(méi)有再使用外交辭令，而是說(shuō)出了自己的真實(shí)想法：

“Rome， by all means， Rome. I will cherish my visit here in memory， as long as I live！”

“羅馬，當(dāng)然是羅馬。我會(huì)用我的一生來(lái)珍藏在這兒度過(guò)的每一刻！”

The story of Roman Holiday is as sweet as a dream， which includes lots of romantic elements： escaping princess， poor but gentle reporter， pleasant foreign scenery and so on. Princess Ann is so innocent and lovely that every single smile of hers is attractive. Basking[9] in the sunshine of Rome， Ann and Joe visit the city happily together. Romanticism has been endowed to the roles without reservation in the film.

However， there is always a moment for waking up. People live in the real world eventually[10]. Princess Ann chooses to undertake[11] her responsibilities instead of keeping a love relationship.

The result may be imperfect but by no means regretful. Everything that happens in Rome will be kept in their memories， which will remain nice and sweet as time passes by.

Everyone is longing for[12] perfect love. But we are also moved by love in Roman Holiday. It is probably because that love is love whatsoever. And it is no necessary that every love relationship ends up in being together.

《羅馬假日》的故事就好像夢(mèng)一樣美好，里面有無(wú)限浪漫的因素：出逃的公主、貧窮但紳士的記者、愜意的異國(guó)風(fēng)景。公主安是那么純真可愛(ài)，一顰一笑都是如此吸引人。沐浴在羅馬的陽(yáng)光下，兩人愉快地相伴游覽了這個(gè)城市。在電影中浪漫情懷總是可以毫無(wú)保留地?fù)]灑在主角身上。

然而美夢(mèng)總有醒來(lái)的時(shí)候，人們終究要活在現(xiàn)實(shí)中。公主最終選擇繼續(xù)承擔(dān)自己的職責(zé)而放棄愛(ài)情。這樣的結(jié)局也許并不完美，卻不令人遺憾。羅馬的點(diǎn)點(diǎn)滴滴將永遠(yuǎn)珍藏在兩人心中，無(wú)論何時(shí)回憶起來(lái)都是美好和甜蜜。

完美的愛(ài)情固然令人心馳神往，但《羅馬假日》里的愛(ài)情也一直被人們所感嘆。大概是因?yàn)閻?ài)情就是愛(ài)情，而不是所有愛(ài)情都要在一起。
