Niu Yubiao： （via reporter） When youre young you dont feel life is hard， but when youre old， youre useless. You cant cook for yourself， you cant walk. I cant even go to the toilet on my own. This house is so old； when it rains， water comes through the roof. It could collapse at any time. Its a bit scary living here. We dont have any savings. We even worry about what to eat for the next meal. We dont get a pension from the government because we didnt pay tax before we retired. Our children paid though， so they should get a pension when they retire. When I was young I never thought about what would happen to me when I am old. My parents died of starvation. I couldnt even afford 2）coffins for their bodies. My kids grew up without clothing because I couldnt afford them. My children live far away now. If something happens to me， then I will just die in my home and no one will know.
