One day,a colt took a bag of wheat to the mill.As he was running with the bag on his back,he came to a small river.一天，小馬馱著麥子去磨坊。當(dāng)他馱著口袋向前跑去時(shí)，突然發(fā)現(xiàn)一條小河擋住了去路。

The colt saw a cow grazing nearby He asked,“Aunt Cow,could you tell me if can cross the river?”The cow told him tha the river was not very deep,just to the knee.小馬看見一頭奶牛在河邊吃草。小馬問(wèn)道：“牛阿姨，請(qǐng)您告訴我，我能過(guò)去嗎？”奶?；卮鹫f(shuō)：“水很淺，剛到膝蓋?！?/p>

The colt was crossing the river when a squirrelshouted, “Colt,stop！ You’llbe drowned！Oneofmyfriendswasdrownedhere yesterday.”Not knowing what to do,the colt wenthometoconsulthismom.小馬正準(zhǔn)備過(guò)河，突然一只松鼠叫道：“小馬，別過(guò)河！你會(huì)被淹死的。昨天，我的一個(gè)伙伴就在這里淹死啦！”小馬不知如何是好，于是決定回家問(wèn)問(wèn)媽媽。

He told his mom his experience on the way.His mother said,“My child,it’s not enough only to listen to others.You’d better go and try yourself.Then you’ll know what to do.”小馬把路上的經(jīng)歷告訴了媽媽。媽媽說(shuō)：“孩子，光聽別人說(shuō)是不行的，你自己親自去試一試，就知道答案了?！?/p>

Later,atthe river,the squirrel stopped the colt again. “Little horse,it’s too dangerous! ”“No,I want to try myself”,answered the colt.Then he crossed the river carefully.小馬回到河邊，剛要下水，松鼠又大叫起來(lái)：“小馬，你不要命啦!”小馬說(shuō)：“讓我自己試試吧?！彼幻婊卮鹨幻嫦铝撕?，小心地趟過(guò)了河。

On the other side of the river,the colt realized that the river was neither as shallow as the cow said nor as deep as the squirrel told him.原來(lái)河水既不像老牛說(shuō)的那樣淺，也不像松鼠說(shuō)的那樣深。
