每年的11月1日是西方傳統(tǒng)的“鬼節(jié)”——萬(wàn)圣節(jié)(All Saints Day)。10月31日之夜叫做萬(wàn)圣節(jié)前夕(Halloween)。每當(dāng)萬(wàn)圣節(jié)到來(lái),孩子們都會(huì)迫不及待地穿上五顏六色的化妝服,戴上千奇百怪的面具,提著“杰克燈”走家串戶,向大人們索要糖果。

Dress up化妝

人們通常在萬(wàn)圣節(jié)前夕進(jìn)行盛裝打扮,有的打扮成仙女,有的打扮成動(dòng)畫(huà)片里的人物……更多的是打扮成妖魔鬼怪。

Almost everyone likes to dress up for Halloween. Some people dress as witches(巫婆),or ghosts(鬼魂),but you can wear anything that looks scary. You dont have to buy a costume. Its more fun to make one. You can put a white sheet on your body, only two eyes are outside.為了歡度萬(wàn)圣節(jié)前夕,幾乎每個(gè)人都喜歡精心打扮。有的人打扮成巫婆,有的人打扮成鬼魂,你只要穿看起來(lái)可怕的衣服就行了。沒(méi)有必要去買(mǎi)服裝,自己做一件會(huì)更有趣。你可以披一條白床單,只把兩只眼睛露出來(lái)。

Jack O'Lantern杰克燈

You must have a Jack O'Lantern on Halloween. It is made of a pumpkin.You can take your pumpkin to the party and carve a scary face with your friends, and place a light inside it, then put the pumpkin outside or by the window to frighten the ghosts and witches.萬(wàn)圣節(jié)前夕你必須要有一盞“杰克燈”。它是由南瓜做成的。你可以把南瓜帶到晚會(huì)上,和你的朋友們刻出可怕的臉來(lái),并在里面放一盞燈,然后把它放在外面或窗戶旁邊去嚇唬那些鬼魂和巫婆。

Trick or treat?不請(qǐng)吃就搗蛋

萬(wàn)圣節(jié)前夕,孩子們都要打扮成鬼精靈模樣,提著南瓜燈挨家討糖吃。當(dāng)孩子們說(shuō)出“Trick or treat?”時(shí),如果鄰居拿糖果等東西出來(lái)招待他們,他們就欣然離開(kāi);如果鄰居不理他們,他們就會(huì)威脅鄰居并做一些惡作劇。

“Trick or treat?” means “Give me a treat or Ill play a trick on you”. It is one of the main traditional activities of Halloween in the West by children. On that day, kids wear all kinds of costumes, knock at the doors from house to house, and ask for candies with the question “Trick or treat?”.

Trick or treat?”的意思為“不請(qǐng) 吃就搗蛋”。這是西方國(guó)家在萬(wàn)圣節(jié)前夕由孩子們進(jìn)行的一項(xiàng)重要的傳統(tǒng)活動(dòng)。那天,孩子們穿上奇裝異服,挨家挨戶地敲門(mén),一邊說(shuō)“Trick or treat?”一邊討要糖果吃。

Bobbing for apples咬蘋(píng)果

“Bobbing for apples”是萬(wàn)圣節(jié)前夕最受小孩歡迎的游戲之一。游戲時(shí),小孩子去咬漂浮在裝滿水的盆里的蘋(píng)果,誰(shuí)先咬到誰(shuí)就是優(yōu)勝者,但是是有條件的哦!

A popular game on Halloweenis “Bobbing for apples”. You have to pick up apples from a bowl full of water, but you mustnt use your hands. You can only use your teeth. 萬(wàn)圣節(jié)前夕的一個(gè)流行游戲是“咬蘋(píng)果”。你必須從裝滿水的盆里把蘋(píng)果咬起,但是不能用手,只能用牙齒。
