2008年3月29日,德欽縣奔子欄衛(wèi)生院，阿追剛出生4天的孩子躺在醫(yī)院的病床上，等待檢查。這個(gè)孩子是3月25日凌晨?jī)牲c(diǎn)，阿追在家中生下的。3月29日上午，阿追與媽媽帶著孩子如約來(lái)到醫(yī)院打預(yù)防針。

《生命之重》這組圖片故事拍攝于2005年3月到2005年8月，在近半年的時(shí)間里，作者分別采訪云南玉龍、重慶黔江、寧夏隆德、福建政和和屏南。采訪都圍繞同一主題——農(nóng)村孕產(chǎn)婦的生存狀況。

在農(nóng)村許多地方，婦保人員無(wú)法推算出婦女的預(yù)產(chǎn)期，因?yàn)閶D保人員詢問(wèn)她們末次月經(jīng)時(shí)，往往會(huì)得到這樣的回答“種玉米那天”，“收土豆那天”……采訪中還聽(tīng)過(guò)這樣的事，如果一個(gè)婦女難產(chǎn)需要搶救，可能要花數(shù)千元的話，她的夫家人可能會(huì)選擇放棄，因?yàn)樾氯⒁粋€(gè)女人回家費(fèi)用會(huì)更低。

2008年3月至4月，記者受中國(guó)扶貧基金會(huì)委托，再次在云南省迪慶藏族自治州德欽縣開(kāi)展專題拍攝，與三年前相似的場(chǎng)景又一幕幕涌現(xiàn)：因大雪封路被迫在家分娩的婦女，漢族醫(yī)生在藏區(qū)默默奉獻(xiàn)……

出于對(duì)執(zhí)著生命的敬畏，出于對(duì)美麗生命的感動(dòng)，我為這組攝影專題取名《生命之重》，同時(shí)希望通過(guò)這組報(bào)道為變化中的農(nóng)村盡微薄之力。

2008年3月17日，尼瑪拉木帶著剛出生一天的孩子回到家中。這是21歲的她第二次做母親，兩年前她的第一個(gè)孩子在家中降生，但沒(méi)有存活。兩年后，為了謹(jǐn)慎起見(jiàn)，她提前一個(gè)月就到醫(yī)院住院待產(chǎn)。

2008年3月30日，4歲半的兄奴此里趴在家中的樓梯上等奶奶回家。兄奴此里的媽媽在家中生他時(shí)大出血而去世，他現(xiàn)在跟著奶奶過(guò)。

March 30, 2008, Xiong Nu Ci Li, four and a half years old boy, lay on the floor waiting for her grandmother. His mother died four years ago. 2008年3月17日，出院后的尼瑪拉木和孩子在家中休養(yǎng)，她的媽媽在一旁照顧。孩子的出生給全家?guī)?lái)了很多快樂(lè)。

2005年4月3日，由于家中無(wú)法找到一塊好布，云南省玉龍納西族自治縣石頭鄉(xiāng)龍石化村民趙亮梅產(chǎn)下的男嬰被包在20多塊碎布拼成的襁褓中。

April 3rd, 2005, Zhao Liangmei, a villager from Long Shi Hua Village, Yu Long Naxi Autonomous County, Yun Nan Province gave birth to a baby boy. As the parents can not find a piece of good cloth, the baby was wrapped in a swaddle，which was made of more than 20 pieces of small rags.

2008年4月1日,德欽縣霞若鄉(xiāng)粗卡通村,送醫(yī)下村的醫(yī)生給孩子們做體檢，小孩不愿意站在臺(tái)秤上，他的母親只好抱著他一起稱，然后單獨(dú)再稱一次，減去自己體重后再獲得小孩的體重。

2008年3月25日凌晨2點(diǎn)11分，云南省德欽縣奔子欄鎮(zhèn)書(shū)松村通堆水小組,21歲阿追在家中生下了自己的第一個(gè)孩子，當(dāng)?shù)蒯t(yī)生上門(mén)為她接生，母子平安。

March 25, 2008, doctor delivered A Zhui's baby at 2:11 am in the Shu Song Village, Benzilan Town, De Qin County. The mortality of New-born and pregnant women is very high in De Qin County, Yunnan Province, because of poverty, social custom, terrible surgery condition and traffic difficulty.

2008年3月28日，次里次木出院，奶奶抱著重孫女走在前面，次里次木騎在馬上，爺爺在后面牽馬馱著次里次木這次住院的行李。按照當(dāng)?shù)仫L(fēng)俗，剛出生的孩子不能上馬，要一直抱著走。3月18日上午，次里次木在德欽縣奔子欄衛(wèi)生院剖腹產(chǎn)生下了自己的孩子，這是該醫(yī)院第一次獨(dú)立完成的剖腹產(chǎn)手術(shù)。

March 28, 2008, Ci Li Ci Mu rode the horse and returned home after Caesarean birth, which is the first Caesarean birth in the local hospital.the new-born was held by the grandmother in front of Ci. According to the local custom, the new-born must be held and was not permitted on the horse. 2008年4月1日，德欽縣霞若鄉(xiāng)粗卡通村，前來(lái)聽(tīng)“婦幼保健知識(shí)”宣傳的50名婦女中，只有前面的一位是住院分娩的，其他的都是在家分娩。

Arpil 1, 2008. Cu Ka Tong Village, Xia Ruo Town, De Qin County. About 50 women gathered to study the health information. Only one of them was delivered her baby in the hospital.
