Situation: Lin Zhi has gone to a sports bar to meet her friend Simon. The pair find themselves watching replays of the highlights of the Olympic Games.

Simon: Well, that's that over with.

Lin Zhi: Yes… it was a fun three weeks, but it was really tiring. All the excitement, all the action... my head was in a spin for the entire duration.

Simon: Yeah, I know what you mean. I had to juggle my job with going to the events and the parties, as well as looking after guests from out of town. I'm exhausted now.

Lin Zhi: Three weeks of heroes and heartbreak. The finest athletes in the world competing to see who's the best. Can you get any more noble than that?

Simon: You really bought in to the Olympic ideal, didn't you?

Lin Zhi: The whole country did. We're very proud to have hosted the Olympics.

Simon: So what was your favourite moment?

Lin Zhi: Oh, there were so many. Michael Phelps and all his gold medals, Usain Bolt's world record, the Chinese team coming top of the golds, the closing ceremony…. It was all wonderful.

Simon: I agree, particularly about Phelps. The man was absolutely incredible. Eight golds, seven world records…. Epic. It goes to show you that not only is this guy the greatest swimmer of all time and the greatest Olympian of all time, he's maybe the greatest athlete of all time. He's possibly the greatest swimmer who ever walked the planet.

Lin Zhi: Do I detect a hint of hero-worship there?

Simon: From me? Heck no. I'm no swimmer, but I know a good athlete when I see one. Like Bolt for instance, a great showman, a brilliant runner. The guy's like a whippet. He deserved every gold medal he earned.

Lin Zhi: It's a shame the guy from Netherlands Antilles got his silver taken away, though.

Simon: Man, that made me really angry. All Olympics the US team complained about bad calls and bad judging. But when this little guy from a country barely anyone ever knew existed one their first ever Olympic medal, what does America do? Get him disqualified along with one of their own racers, just so they can get TWO medals instead of one. It was disgusting…. Totally against the Olympic spirit.

Lin Zhi: I agree… but don't let it spoil your enjoyment of the tournament. So, will you go to London in 2012?

Simon: Hopefully I'll be living in England then, so I certainly hope so. We'll see if China can beat this year's medal tally!

Lin Zhi: If you're there, I'm going to come visit.
