Abstract:Idioms and well-known sayings that state general truthes or give advice， are the essence of language，the accumulations of the human's experience during the life and social activities in a long term.They have been handed down orally and perfected by millions of people， so most of them are simple with deep morals and full of wisdom in a vivid and effective way.This paper functions as a pavestone to arouse the interest of the tourism majors in English idioms and sayings that may be used in some possible occasions in the process of guiding.

It's necessary to have a command of English idioms and sayings for tourism majors ，for it's helpful for them tobetter know the culture of the English speaking nations ， their ways of thinking， customs and virtues.It's also a good way for a guide to gain more knowledge ，enlarge their horizons and make the tour guiding more cheerful，impressive and successful.

Tourism is a comprehensive business ，involved in all aspects of transportation， sightseeing， accommodation， food ，shopping and entertaining.This paper deals with the idioms and sayings that may be applied in these circumstances.

Ⅰ On Journey

1．It is better to travel hopefully than to arrive.充滿希望的旅程比終于到達更有趣。2.A good company on the road is the shortest cut.話語投機步作車。3.A good friend is my nearest relation。遠(yuǎn)親不如近鄰。4.Sweet discourse makes short days and nights.酒逢知己千杯少。5.Merry meet ，merry part.好聚好散。6.Absence makes the heart grow fonder.別離情深。7.Let's enjoy the magnificent sights along the river.讓我們欣賞這條河沿岸的動人景色。8．The tour is an excellent value.這次旅行很劃得來。9.You will have a chance to feast your eyes. 你將有機會大飽眼福。10. I think I'd better lead the way.我想我最好在前面領(lǐng)路。

Ⅱ Sight-seeing

1．Visits always give pleasure-if not the arrival，the departure.游覽總是有趣的-若不是在到達的時候，就是在離開時。2.Friends may meet but mountains never .人生何處不相逢。3.He that travels far knows much.遠(yuǎn)行者，長見識。4.He that goes far has many encounters.行千里路勝讀十年書。5.Travel broadens the mind.旅游開闊眼界。6．Nature is at its best and the beauty of the place is beyond description.大自然正是最美的時候，美麗的景色實非筆墨所能形容。7．The beautiful scenery of Guilindeserves the reputation itenjoys.桂林的秀麗景色名不虛傳。8．By early evening the sun had gone and a brassy glare had taken the place of clear daylight.黃昏時分，太陽落山了，一道黃燦燦的霞光取代了明朗的日光。9.That's rich district with plenty of fish and rich.那是個魚米之鄉(xiāng)。10．As far as sitht could reach，I feasted my eyes on a vastness of infinite charm.縱目眺望，我飽覽了一片嬌艷的風(fēng)光。

Ⅲ Shopping.

1. Enough is better than too much.知足常樂。2. Plain living ，high thinking.生活可儉樸，思想要高尚。3. A penny saved is a penny gained.節(jié)省一分就獲得一分。4. Easy come，easy go.來得容易去得快。5. The more you get ，the more you want.得隴望蜀。6. Fair gainings make fair spendings.來得正當(dāng)，花得正當(dāng)。7. It is very fragrant and will keep indefinitely，and has the reputaion for quality tant is unequalled.它香味持久，其品質(zhì)，信譽無與倫比。8．The tie happened to strike his fancy，so he bought it.這條領(lǐng)帶正合他的心意摸索儀他就買下了。9．The silver bracelet is one of our best-selling items.這種銀手鐲是本店的熱門貨之一。10．I want to buy typical Chinese product and specialties.我想買一些中國土特產(chǎn)。

Ⅳ Accommodation.

1.Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy，wealthy and wise.早睡早起能使得健康，富裕和聰明。2.He that goes to bed thirsty wises healthy.忍渴上床，起身健康。3.Morning dreams are true.晨夢多真。4.Sleep is a thief ，it steals half one's life.睡眠如竊賊，偷走半生光陰。5.Sleep over it.人有隔夜之智。6．Labour as long lived，worry as ever dying.勤勞益壽，憂郁傷身。7．After supper ，walk a mile.飯后百步走，活到九十九。8．Rest breeds rust.人不活動，百病叢生。9．Exercise benefits our health.運動有益于我們的健康。10．A light heart lives long.心胸豁達者長壽。

Ⅴ Dinner.

1. Eat at pleasure，drink with measure.進食可隨意，飲酒須適量。2. Welcome is the best dish.真誠的歡迎賽過盛宴款待。3. Well fed，well bred.衣食足而后禮儀興。4. Hunger finds no fault with cooking.饑不擇食。5. Every man to his taste.蘿卜青菜各有所愛。6. Don't stand on ceremony.不要客氣，隨便些。7．The banquet was permeated with a warm atmosphere of unity and friendship.宴會上洋溢著團結(jié)友好的熱烈氣氛。8．Only the best wine can do justice to this excellent meal.只有好酒才配得上這頓豐盛的美餐。9. Always rise from the table with an appetite ，and you will never sit down without one.每餐若留三分饑，下頓不愁胃口低。10．Hunger makes dinners ，pastime suppers.午飯為充饑，晚飯為消遣。

Ⅵ Entertainment

1.All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.只工作不玩耍，好人也愚鈍。2.Pleasant hours fly fast.快樂時光逝如飛。3.Idle folks have the least leisure.懶漢最少休閑。4.One cannot put back the clock.光陰一去不復(fù)返。5.Put your foot down where you mean to stand.見好就收。6.More haste ，less speed.欲速則不達。7.Better a lie that heals than a truth that wounds.安慰人的假話，也不講傷人的實情。8.New things are fair. 新事物是美好的。9.Variety is charming.豐富多彩令人迷。10.Forbidden fruit is sweet.禁果分外甜。

Conclusion:The genius，wit and spirit of a nation are discovered in it's idioms. In the communication with foreign tourists，an appropriate practice of idioms and sayings can not only express deep meaning of a subject ，but make the atmosphere easy and harmonious. Sometimes it can also avoid the embarrassing moments and keep the point of conversation ，turning the way into an intellectural enjoyment full of interest.
