●Banksy其人●
Banksy was born in 1974 in Bristol,England. The son of a photocopier engineer, he was trained as a butcher but became involved in graffiti in the great Bristol, when he was 14 years old. His artworks are often satirical pieces of art which encompass topics from politics, culture, and ethics. His street art, which combines graffiti with a distinctive stenciling technique, has appeared in London and in cities around the world.
At the beginning, in order to evade the policemen , every painting of his must be completed in very short time ,or under cloak of darkness。Later, he designed the Stencil at home first and then, no matter how complex the painting is, he can easily complete in a short time at the street corner. His arts were ironical and so facetious that the policemen maybe can not help laughing at them. Because he persist in such a style, having his own color,Banksy got a good reputation gradually.
Banksy's stencils feature striking and humorous images occasionally combined with slogans. The message is usually anti-war, anti-capitalist, anti-establishment or pro-freedom. Subjects include animals such as monkeys and rats, policemen, soldiers, children and the elderly. He also makes sculpture and was responsible for the cover art of Blur's 2003 album Think Tank.
In August 2004, Banksy produced a quantity of spoof British £10 notes substituting Princess Diana's head for the Queen's and changing \"Bank of England\" to \"Banksy of England\". These notes have since been sold was on eBay for about £200 each. One of these was sold in May 2007 on eBay for $35,000.
On 7 February 2007, Sotheby's auction house in London auctioned three Banksy works and reached the highest ever price for a Banksy work at auction of over £102,000 for his Bombing Middle England. Two of his other graffiti works, Balloon Girl and Bomb Hugger, sold for £37,200 and £31,200 respectively, which were well above their estimated prices. The following day's auction saw a further three Banksy works reaching soaring prices. On April 27th 2007, a new record high for the sale of Banksy's work was set with the auction of the work Space Girl Bird fetching £288,000 ($576,000), around 20 times the estimate at Bonhams of London.
During an interview when asked about his techniques, Banksy said \"I use whatever it takes. Sometimes that just means drawing a moustache on a girl's face on some billboard...\"
●Banksy其事●
Once Paris Hilton, successor of the Hilton family, released a new album. Because Banksy does not like her, he changed pictures of hers on the CD sleeve to show the US socialite and with a dog's head and replaced Hilton's CD with his own remixes on the day the new album was released. He had doctored 500 copies of her debut album Paris in 48 record shops across the UK. No one noticed it and these 500CDs were sold 1ly. But no customers had complained or returned a doctored version. These 500 customers owning the doctored CD were the most fortunate, for it was not easy to get Banksy's authentic work.
