In my opinion, reading should be enjoyable. Of course, there are many books that we all have to read. We read them in order to pass exams or to get information. Maybe we cannot get enjoyment from reading them. We read them for instruction. All we can hope is that these books are not too boring.
But that is not the sort of reading I have in mind. There are some books—they cannot help you to get a degree or to earn your living, but they can help you to live more fully. However, they cannot do that unless you enjoy reading them.
Everyone is his/her own best critic. The learned people may speak in praise of some books. But if you have no interest in them, they are none of your business.
Everyone must read books for pleasure. But the books that please one person may not please another. So choose the books you like. Read for pleasure!
