Create a Fine Cultural Brand
Liu Feng
As the first spring sunray shines, the promising and dynamic 2007 has arrived, bringing us both opportunities for new progress and challenges. With so many publications competing on the market, we must come up with new ideas and find a new way to turn Cultural Dialogue into a publication characterized by richer contents, greater originality and vigor, and nicer images and texts, which appeal more to both refined and popular tastes. We will do our best to turn the periodical into a fine cultural symbol that brings Chinese culture to our overseas readers and make it into a cultural brand for Zhejiang Province.
We are glad to see that Cultural Dialogue received, as always, support and encouragement from government leaders and departments concerned in the past year. We highly appreciate the support and praises from our readers all over the world. In the past year, sincere encouragement, earnest expectations and timely comments and suggestions were like sunshine that warmed our hearts and gave us new impetus to move forward.
Culture runs a long course. It is part of the overall strength for competition. This magazine aims to promote cultural dialogues. We will, as always, promote culture and take it upon ourselves to disseminate Chinese culture and introduce other cultures to our readers. We are happy to be the first-line cultural promoters. We are the building blocks for bridges that span tradition and modernity, China and the rest of the world, Western and Eastern cultures. We will do our best to promote exchanges between Zhejiang and the rest of the world in the fields of economy, culture, science and technology, education, and tourism.
In 2007, we will further enrich the contents of the magazine, make its style more attractive to readers, and reach out for more readers all over the world. To make a magazine a name brand, we need to maintain cultural integrity and resist the temptations of some fads. We wish to make the magazine something our readers enjoy reading and would like to recommend to other people. Moreover, we endeavor to make it into something worth keeping as a collector’s item. We will find some exclusive stories, and focus on celebrities, influential events, top artworks, and classic plays. We will refrain from repeating other people’s topics and stay away from stories that have been told in other media. All in all, to make a good magazine, we need to listen to our readers from all sides and learn from our colleagues; we need to go all out, learn from our own experiences, and make constant progress.
As the new year is beautiful, fresh, and promising, we are confident and determined to achieve our goal of building Cultural Dialogue into a cultural brand and do our best to promoting the harmonious society. We look forward to the contributions, support and help from leaders, people from all walks and our readers. And our Cultural Dialogues will speak for us.
