Probably because he was born in the Year of Tiger, the seal sculptor Li Wei is best known for his lofty and free personality. Tigers are his favorite images for artistic creations. With the experience of observing tigers closely for over 20 years, the experienced engraver spent three years carving 100 tigers in seal script. These tigers suggest a good blessing of 洪福滿堂, as red tigers in Chinese are almost homophones for great fortune (洪福) and 滿堂 means your house will be brimming with all the great fortune coming your way.
Born in 1962 in Wenzhou, a port city in south Zhejiang Province, Li Wei is an artist versed in Chinese culture. His seal works highlight an ebullient style and mastery of various skills.
