I made a list, some time ago,

“things to do today”.

I m through procrastinating,

I m set—no more delay.

Beginning with the “catch-all” drawer

(Its contents are a mess)

I'll get rid of all the useless stuff,

Well, maybe—more or less.

When at last, I “do” the fridge,

There s no telling what I ll find.

A shriveled piece of apple,

Some cheese with purple rind?

My clipping from a magazine

Suggests a far nicer diet.

When I remember where it is,

I promise me, I ll try it.

If the diet leads to exercise,

I ll join the nearest gym.

Where losing weight and feeling fit.

Is more than just a whim.

I ll lose some inches, drop some weight,

Already I feel “alive”.

I ll make a big donation,

To the local clothing drive.

My enthusiasms endless,

I'll become light-hearted.

All these things will come to pass,

Next week, when I get started.
