面對(duì)張靜初才發(fā)現(xiàn),女人還有一種美麗叫從容,一種恬淡的從容。
去年第一次采訪時(shí),正值《孔雀》得獎(jiǎng)歸來(lái),作為女主角的張靜初一夜走紅,幾乎每天都能在各種媒體上看到她的新聞。但當(dāng)我給她手機(jī)發(fā)了一條要求采訪的短信,幾乎是立刻接到了她的電話,她說(shuō)她正在云南拍《芳香之旅》,現(xiàn)在正好有空,要不現(xiàn)在就開始吧。沒(méi)有一絲的故作矜持和矯情,電話中的張靜初淡淡的、靜靜的,不張揚(yáng),不做作,言語(yǔ)中透著坦然、冷靜、謹(jǐn)慎,當(dāng)她常常因?yàn)楣ぷ鞫袛辔覀兊恼勗挄r(shí),總是滿懷歉意,那份善解人意,為她冷色調(diào)的性格添上了一筆濃濃的暖意。
一個(gè)演員,有了目標(biāo),有了自身的條件,又有了機(jī)會(huì),還有冷靜的頭腦能自我審視,能從容面對(duì)鮮花和掌聲,這個(gè)演員必成大器。時(shí)隔一年后的今天,再見(jiàn)張靜初證實(shí)了我的這種預(yù)感。過(guò)去的一年對(duì)張靜初來(lái)說(shuō)是火爆過(guò)后的沉寂。眼前的她,經(jīng)歷了更多的歷練,顯得更沉靜平和,更自信從容,順著她嫻靜、坦率的聲音,我們窺見(jiàn)了她的成名之路,看到了艷麗的雀屏背后的美麗與平淡。
愛(ài)畫畫的女孩
當(dāng)年,她只是一個(gè)愛(ài)畫畫的女孩,就近考上了福建廈門藝術(shù)師范學(xué)校,那時(shí)她的理想是當(dāng)一個(gè)小學(xué)美術(shù)老師。
“師范畢業(yè)后那時(shí)想考美院,但后來(lái)發(fā)現(xiàn)自己專業(yè)比別人差得遠(yuǎn),因?yàn)閹煼秾W(xué)校的美術(shù)課像萬(wàn)金油,什么都學(xué),沒(méi)那么專。所以真要考美院的話,估計(jì)還得補(bǔ)課兩年,這對(duì)我來(lái)說(shuō)有點(diǎn)太嚴(yán)峻了。”于是張靜初想到了和美術(shù)有關(guān)的學(xué)校,后來(lái)“中戲”開始招生了,第一個(gè)招考的就是導(dǎo)演系,張靜初決定試試,說(shuō)是“權(quán)當(dāng)練兵”。
請(qǐng)了一位導(dǎo)演系的老教授輔導(dǎo)20天,張靜初走上了考場(chǎng)。她不慌不忙,要講故事就講,問(wèn)專業(yè)知識(shí)就答,一路過(guò)關(guān)斬將,竟輕輕松松拿下了三試?!凹热豢忌?,我肯定是適合學(xué)這個(gè)專業(yè),走上這條路,以后得更加努力?!碑?dāng)年的張靜初這樣想著。
學(xué)導(dǎo)演的演員
自認(rèn)為自己不漂亮,從來(lái)沒(méi)有想去做表演,可偏偏在讀導(dǎo)演系時(shí)常常被請(qǐng)去當(dāng)演員。這是發(fā)生在張靜初身上挺戲劇化的事。她在電視劇《你的生命如此多情》《蟋蟀大師》《不回家的男人》《英雄》《秦始皇》《三少爺?shù)膭Α匪椦莸亩疾皇侵鹘?,張靜初卻樂(lè)此不疲。幾年的“中戲”生活使她改變了表演與自己無(wú)關(guān)的想法,導(dǎo)演系的課程中本來(lái)就有表演課,特別是一場(chǎng)畢業(yè)大戲,更是激發(fā)了她骨子里的表演欲望:“那是話劇《夕鶴》,是一個(gè)日本很有名的神話故事,它被改成過(guò)歌劇,講的是一個(gè)農(nóng)民救了一只受傷的仙鶴,仙鶴就變成一個(gè)女孩來(lái)報(bào)恩,但后來(lái)卻演化成一個(gè)悲劇。我就是演那個(gè)悲劇的女主角?!睆堨o初的聲音變得快樂(lè)起來(lái)。張靜初演《夕鶴》感覺(jué)到一種釋放自己的快感。這個(gè)戲讓她發(fā)現(xiàn)了自己其實(shí)是很愛(ài)演戲的,而且是個(gè)很有爆發(fā)力的演員。“之前我一直以為我比較害羞,比較內(nèi)向,其實(shí)我在一個(gè)角色里是可以完全釋放的,這點(diǎn)我自己也沒(méi)想到?!?/p>
中戲畢業(yè)后,表演的機(jī)會(huì)不斷找上門來(lái)?!昂芏嗳苏椅易屛遗倪@個(gè)拍那個(gè)。不過(guò)我把這些演出都視為‘客串’,所以心理上沒(méi)有任何壓力?!?/p>
為“姐姐”而戰(zhàn)
“那你認(rèn)為你現(xiàn)在是個(gè)職業(yè)演員嗎?”
“《孔雀》以后是?!?/p>
一部《孔雀》,讓張靜初放下了她所有的矜持和清高。在她的日記中寫道:一點(diǎn)退路也沒(méi)給自己留,什么面子、尊嚴(yán)都不講究了!
“有這么嚴(yán)重嗎?”
“我是個(gè)外表看上去好像挺隨和的人,但其實(shí)我骨子里是個(gè)很倔、自尊心很強(qiáng)的人。我不喜歡被人挑來(lái)挑去,以前做演員就不太愿去面試,我也因?yàn)檫@個(gè)失去很多次機(jī)會(huì)。即使去面試,如果發(fā)現(xiàn)有很多跟我一樣的人被安排在一起見(jiàn)面的話,我會(huì)掉頭就走。我覺(jué)得這是對(duì)我的不尊重,我覺(jué)得哪怕是要挑選的話也應(yīng)該安排單獨(dú)面談,做一個(gè)私人的深入的聊天,像黃瓜西紅柿一樣地被人挑來(lái)挑去我是不能接受的。不過(guò)這種心理在看到《孔雀》劇本的時(shí)候就完全沒(méi)有了,就覺(jué)得競(jìng)爭(zhēng)其實(shí)是非常幸福的,當(dāng)時(shí)我就豁出去了?!?/p>
為了得到“姐姐”這角色,張靜初幾乎是經(jīng)歷一場(chǎng)脫胎換骨的蛻變。她學(xué)會(huì)了瘋狂的爭(zhēng)取。她和眾多的“姐姐”一起學(xué)河南話練手風(fēng)琴打兵乓球……?!懊刻煸缟?點(diǎn)起床,9點(diǎn)鐘去學(xué)手風(fēng)琴到12點(diǎn)半,1點(diǎn)鐘到劇組學(xué)一小時(shí)方言,下午打乒乓球, 6點(diǎn)回到劇組吃飯,再學(xué)語(yǔ)言學(xué)到晚上8點(diǎn)半或者9點(diǎn),然后回家,每天都是這樣?;貞涍@段日子,她覺(jué)得很充實(shí)很陶醉?!皟蓚€(gè)月我一直在一點(diǎn)一點(diǎn)地進(jìn)入姐姐這個(gè)角色。我是挺能理解姐姐的,我自己也是一個(gè)挺愛(ài)幻想的人,我想要什么樣的生活得不到,那我就會(huì)比較痛苦,所以我比較理解姐姐。”
在《孔雀》中,“姐姐”有兩個(gè)讓觀眾震撼的鏡頭:“姐姐”為了向果子要回降落傘,在小樹林里忽然脫下自己的褲子……“姐姐”離婚之后,和弟弟在街頭選西紅柿,忽然遇到她心中最愛(ài)慕的那個(gè)軍官,他已經(jīng)變成了一個(gè)很市井的男人,她側(cè)著臉無(wú)聲地哭了。張靜初說(shuō)這也是她最喜愛(ài)的兩個(gè)鏡頭。
“小樹林那場(chǎng)戲,挺佩服你的勇氣的,拍攝前有心理障礙嗎?”
“一開始沒(méi)說(shuō)要全脫的,雖然劇本里寫的是要全脫,但當(dāng)時(shí)還是希望能保留一個(gè)分寸。所以拍這場(chǎng)戲的頭一天我一直在試各種顏色的小褲衩,粉的、白的、大一點(diǎn)的、小一點(diǎn)的,但那天拍時(shí),導(dǎo)演、編劇都問(wèn)我能不能全脫,他們自己保證不穿幫,因?yàn)橐路荛L(zhǎng),完全可以遮住的。其實(shí)我一開始就有預(yù)感,最后會(huì)全脫掉。如果不脫就根本沒(méi)有那個(gè)力量!留一條褲衩什么意思啊?!當(dāng)時(shí)也拍了好幾條有褲衩的,導(dǎo)演還是覺(jué)得什么顏色的褲衩都不行,都沒(méi)有全脫掉更好。我覺(jué)得其實(shí)恰恰是一脫完之后就顯得‘姐姐’更圣潔,有一種讓人心疼的感覺(jué)?!?/p>
許多人說(shuō)張靜初演姐姐是在演自己,她倆太像了。但她自己看得很客觀:“我覺(jué)得挺能理解‘姐姐’的,我自己也是一個(gè)挺愛(ài)幻想的人。但在生活里,我還是比較隨和比較開朗,‘姐姐’她更理想主義,有的時(shí)候完全不考慮別人的想法,而我很在乎別人的說(shuō)法和看法,活得沒(méi)她那樣放得開?!?/p>
自己選擇的“芳香之旅”
“去年采訪你時(shí),你正在《芳香之旅》片場(chǎng),忙得不可開交。如今影片已經(jīng)上映了,你自己看了嗎?感覺(jué)如何?”
“這應(yīng)該是最能代表我演技的作品。”
《芳香之旅》講述了上個(gè)世紀(jì)60年代,情竇初開的售票員春芬與長(zhǎng)途車上的男子劉奮斗相愛(ài),但命運(yùn)卻安排她嫁給了公交車司機(jī)老崔(范偉飾)。當(dāng)春芬決定離開這段無(wú)愛(ài)無(wú)性的婚姻,重新尋找過(guò)去的愛(ài)情時(shí),老崔卻意外地變成了植物人……片中,張靜初飾演的春芬對(duì)生活充滿憧憬,但隨著初戀情人的背叛和時(shí)代的變遷,她的青春也漸漸逝去。寂寥一生之后,春芬最后釋然:每一個(gè)年代、每一段經(jīng)歷的情感,都是令人感慨萬(wàn)千的“芳香之旅”。
張靜初說(shuō)《芳香之旅》讓她過(guò)足戲癮: “第一次看到劇本的時(shí)候,我就被這個(gè)角色吸引住了。但當(dāng)時(shí)還有些擔(dān)心,因?yàn)樽约簭膩?lái)沒(méi)有演過(guò)那么大年紀(jì)的婦女,怕演出來(lái)會(huì)很假。不過(guò)試妝后,我發(fā)現(xiàn)效果還不錯(cuò),而且導(dǎo)演一直鼓勵(lì)我,我也豁出去了?!蓖瑯邮前l(fā)生在上世紀(jì)70年代的故事,但春芬和《孔雀》中的姐姐性格完全不一樣:“如果這個(gè)角色也同樣能得到大家的認(rèn)可,那就是我的成功了!”
“這個(gè)人物你從17歲演到60歲,當(dāng)時(shí)有壓力嗎?”
“這對(duì)我來(lái)說(shuō)是表演上的一個(gè)挑戰(zhàn)。開始導(dǎo)演是想再找個(gè)演員來(lái)演老年春芬的。但當(dāng)我的老年造型出來(lái),他都認(rèn)不出我來(lái)了?!?/p>
在拍老年戲的時(shí)候,張靜初每天早晨四五點(diǎn)起床化3小時(shí)妝,忍受貼眼袋、畫老年斑、雀斑、下拉眼皮等“酷刑”,最后再套上大棉襖?!盀檫@個(gè)妝每次都要花3個(gè)小時(shí),每一條皺紋、血絲都是一筆一筆畫的,就算是很近的特寫鏡頭都還是很真實(shí),所以對(duì)皮膚的傷害當(dāng)然很大,因?yàn)槟切┊嫲櫦y的筆質(zhì)量又不太好,一些皺紋畫好后都弄不下去了,我每次卸妝后就要用大量的眼貼膜、面膜?;美夏陫y后,對(duì)著鏡子看到自己變老還真有點(diǎn)害怕。記得一次做好這個(gè)老年造型的時(shí)候,導(dǎo)演走進(jìn)化妝間老半天都不理我,后來(lái)我叫他,他卻嚇了一大跳,立即很心酸地感嘆一個(gè)女人怎么就變成這樣了。到后來(lái)看片的時(shí)候,我覺(jué)得拍攝兩個(gè)半月的戲就走完了一個(gè)女人的一生,人的生命歷程真的是太短了,比這兩個(gè)半月也長(zhǎng)不了多少。”從17歲演到60歲,太難了,但卻是張靜初表演的一個(gè)高峰。
拍完了《芳香之旅》,張靜初接演了一部國(guó)際性的大制作《玉戰(zhàn)士》?!队駪?zhàn)士》是根據(jù)芬蘭民族史詩(shī)改編的魔幻電影,由中國(guó)、芬蘭、法國(guó)共同投資,芬蘭導(dǎo)演執(zhí)導(dǎo)。張靜初擔(dān)任這部電影的女主角,這是張靜初第一次出演武打女角色,她主動(dòng)提出所有動(dòng)作場(chǎng)面全部親自上陣:“演武打戲?qū)ξ襾?lái)說(shuō)是一次挑戰(zhàn),雖然過(guò)程中辛苦了一些,不過(guò)借機(jī)改變一下戲路,對(duì)今后扮演各種角色肯定會(huì)有啟發(fā)?!?/p>
從《孔雀》到小成本的藝術(shù)電影《花腰新娘》《芳香之旅》、大卡司大制作的《七劍》、國(guó)際制作《玉戰(zhàn)士》,張靜初的選擇透出了她的志向和智慧。
燦爛后的余音
因?yàn)椤犊兹浮帆@獎(jiǎng),張靜初穿一身色彩斑斕的華貴禮服在柏林電影節(jié)的紅地毯上亮相,整體造型宛如一只美麗的中國(guó)孔雀開屏,艷驚全場(chǎng)。
因?yàn)椤镀邉Α?,張靜初再次在國(guó)際性場(chǎng)合——威尼斯電影節(jié)上綻放她的美麗。
在美國(guó)新聞雜志《時(shí)代》舉辦的“亞洲英雄”的盛大頒獎(jiǎng)禮上,張靜初成為獲得“亞洲英雄”稱號(hào)的首位中國(guó)女演員。在國(guó)內(nèi),張靜初更是拿獎(jiǎng)拿到手軟:華表獎(jiǎng)優(yōu)秀新人女演員、上海影評(píng)人獎(jiǎng)最佳女演員……張靜初如一只孔雀,在一瞬間燦爛開屏后,她的美麗已輻射到海外、國(guó)際。
“成名的感覺(jué)如何?”
也許這樣的問(wèn)題已面對(duì)得太多,張靜初顯得從容淡定:“沒(méi)什么特別的感覺(jué),可能就是媒體的采訪多了,還有就是一遍一遍問(wèn)這樣的問(wèn)題,其實(shí)我還是像以前一樣就對(duì)了。反正還是把更多的精力放在演戲上吧,其實(shí)我演的也都是社會(huì)上特別普通的人。除了必要的比如說(shuō)是電影節(jié)啊,做一些必要的宣傳之外,我其實(shí)還是要做我自己,做一個(gè)最普通的人,這樣才比較有可能在電影中把角色處理得好,創(chuàng)作才會(huì)比較扎實(shí)?!辈贿^(guò)她不否認(rèn)《孔雀》給她帶來(lái)的巨大變化:“演了《孔雀》以后,我的命運(yùn)突然出現(xiàn)了急轉(zhuǎn)彎,是這部電影讓我立志做一名好演員?!?/p>

Woman of Quiet Beauty

The first time I interviewed Zhang Jingchu, a film star on the rapid rise, I became aware that serenity was the right word to describe her youthful beauty.It was last year shortly after Peacock, in which Zhang starred as the heroine, won the Silver Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival. Her fame came about overnight and her name appeared in the media across the vast country. When I sent her a short message by mobile phone, asking for an interview, she almost immediately called back saying that she might as well start the interview then and there because she just had some time before her next film in Yunnan.
On the phone, she sounded low-keyed.By no means was she eager to publicize her name and fame. When we talked face to face, I was more impressed. When the talk was interrupted because of her work, she was always apologetic, which added a touch of warmth to her seeming aloofness. I could not help but believe that the young film actress would be bound to bloom into a film star because of her good looks, level headedness, modesty, artistry, and the way she faced applauses and flowers, let alone the opportunities now coming her way.
I recently met her again, almost one year after our first interview. She was still low-profile, confident, quiet, and candid.
Her childhood was characterized by her dream of becoming a teacher of art at a primary school. To realize this dream, she enrolled herself into Xiamen Normal School for Art Teachers. After graduation from the school, she wanted to further her career at an academy of fine arts, but she found that what she had learned at the school was inadequate. Then she began to think about colleges that had something to do with arts. When the Central Academy of Drama came to enroll students, she signed up. After a 20-day private crash course, she went to the entrance examinations. She passed and was enrolled into the department of directing. She thought to herself that she must be fit for the profession since she had sailed through the examinations with unexpected ease.
She never thought she was pretty. Nor did it ever occur to her that she would like acting. But while in college, she appeared in six television series. It was the acting experiences and her college studies that changed her view of her potentialities as an actress. She found she had a passion for acting and she had the ability to let herself go totally into the roles she played. After graduation, she had more opportunities to act. She regarded her roles as extras, so she did not feel pressured.
In my interview, Zhang described how she changed because of Peacock. “I look like an amicable person. But in my heart I am stubborn and I have a strong sense of self-respect. I didn’t like to be one of the numerous candidates to be examined closely, discarded or picked. I didn’t like audition either. For this stubbornness I lost a lot of opportunities. On some occasions when I did go to an audition, I would quit when I saw many candidates waiting there for a group interview. I thought it was an insult. I thought an interview should be private and it should never be arranged like a vegetable market. But I seemed to experience a through going change after I read the script of Peacock. I began to feel that competition meant happiness. I went all out for the role of the elder sister in the movie.”
Many competed to be the elder sister. They went through a tough selection process. All of the candidates would get up at 7 in the morning. They would learn how to play the accordion from 9 to 12:30. At one o’clock, they would gather to learn the Henan dialect. And then in the afternoon, they would learn to play table tennis. Then they would have dinner at 6 pm. In the evening they attended a language class till 9. The routine lasted for two months. They tried to remold themselves after the elder sister. For Zhang, the training was a process of complete metamorphosis. She was the winner of the fierce competition. Her brilliant acting helped the film win the Silver Bear at Berlin.
Since Peacock, Zhang Jingchu has become a full-time actress. Since 2005, she has appeared in several important films such as Seven Swords. And she will soon appear in Jade Warrior, an international action film to be directed by A. J. Annila this year.
She dazed the audience at Berlin’s prize-awarding ceremony. She appeared at the Venice Film Festival because of Seven Swords.
In the interview, I asked how she felt about her fame and public attention. She was characteristically serene. “I don’t feel hugely excited. Probably it is because I have experienced so many press conferences. Similar questions come to me and I answer in the same way. I focus on my acting career. As a matter of fact, the roles I have interpreted are ordinary people. Promotions are full of fanfare. They are inevitable and necessary. I haven’t changed. I am still a woman living an ordinary life. That’s how I can handle my roles satisfactorily and how my passion for role creation can bear solid fruit.”
But she affirms the tremendous change Peacock has brought to her life. She says, “After Peacock, there occurred a sharp turning in my life. It is this film that built up my resolution to be a good actress.”
