Making movies used to be something that only professional teams with lots of money could do. But now， thanks to AI， anyone can create a film and it might even get shown at big events like the Beijing International Film Festival（BJIFF， 北京國(guó)際電影節(jié)）.

This year， for the first time， the 14th BJIFF had a special part， the AIGC Short Film Unit. They got 430 films from all over the world. Surprisingly， independent creators made up 45 percent of the total， with the youngest one being just 11 years old， while professionals only accounting for 10.7 percent.

“AIGC is changing the game by letting anyone make movies，” said Wang Lei， from the Communication University of China， at the forum（論壇） of the unit.

But making movies with AI isn’t perfect yet. Many AI Apps can only produce random video clips based on user prompts（提示詞）. As a result， characters’ faces often appear differently in later scenes. Wang solved this by making his characters’ faces blurry（模糊不清的） on purpose， turning a bug（故障） into a feature. He only started playing with AI two months before making his award-winning film.

AIGC is available for anyone. “There are no barriers（壁壘）， regardless of wealth or technologies， on AIGC filmmaking，” said Song Donghuan， a scriptwriter（編?。?who set up StoryStorm， a major AIGC community in China. “The only thing you need is to have a strong desire to express yourself， and the only limit is your imagination.”
