On November 30, the 6th China International Industrial Design Expo was held in Wuhan, Hubei Province. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has announced the sixth batch of “National Industrial Design Centers”, among which CSSC Cruise has become the“National Industrial Design Center”shouldering innovation leading and industry demonstration.

“National Industrial Design Center” is an industrial design institution determined by MIIT,featuring strong industrial design innovation capability, distinct characteristics, standard management,outstanding performance, leading development level and obvious demonstration and leading role,representing China’s strongest industrial design innovation ability and highest advanced level, as the highest recognition of corporate industrial design center. That CSSC Cruise won the title of “National Industrial Design Center” is a high recognition of its industrial design innovation ability and industry demonstration and leading role in the cruise industry.

Under the leadership of China State Shipbuilding Corporation,CSSC Cruise has adhered to the systematic development path, actively played the leading role of top-level design, and constantly achieved its own breakthroughs in scientific and technological innovation, research and development investment, design achievements, cutting-edge technology exploration and other aspects.

Cruise ship design is often known as the “high-grade, sophisticated,advanced” and “macrosystem”engineering.“High-grade,sophisticated, advanced” means many urgent research, cracking and conquering of key and core technologies such as safe return,weight and gravity center control,vibration and noise reduction;“macrosystem” is reflected in the tens of millions of parts of cruise ships, and comprehensive thinking and intervention from the industrial attributes, artistic attributes and human factors engineering of cruise ships. In addition, cruise design has the characteristics of high customization, involving ship owners,classification societies, design and construction and other units, and it is an important part of the cruise industry ecosystem.

CSSC Cruise as the overall responsibility unit for CSSC developing the cruise industry, as well as the business platform for boosting cruise operations, design and building and supply chain construction, integrating domestic and foreign resources to build cruise ecosystem, has since establishment in 2018 always taken R＆D and design as the first power and innovation source in the high quality development of the cruise industry,centering on the organizational structure innovation, model innovation and R＆D innovation, actively carried out EPC capacity development. At the same time, it established and improved the R＆D innovation system, and formed two scientific and technological forces around the detailed design of the first ship and the development of independent ships.

The birth of the “Adora Magic City” is engraved with the hard work of the CSSC Cruise large cruise detailed design team, which proves that the CSSC Cruise R＆D and design team basically has the engineering development ability. Within five years,CSSC Cruise R＆D and design team and their Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding counterpart, through unremitting efforts, and cooperation with the Classification Society and other multiple units, gradually completed the localization transformation of the design and construction standards,and issued 777 processes, design standards and 143 standard operating procedures. In particular, the concept designs of 80,000 GT and 150,000 GT cruise ships have been rolled out,basically forming an independent R＆D innovation system.
