In October, 2022, the World Book Life Index Seminar was held online. This seminar was jointly organized by the School of International Journalism amp; Communication and the International Publishing Media Research Center of Beijing Foreign Studies University. Academic support was provided by the World Book Life Index Research Project Committee. World Book Life Index is a sub-project of the “International Communication Capability Index Matrix” initiated by Yang Dan, president of Beijing Foreign Studies University.
Prof. Yuan Jun, director of the Academic Committee of Beijing Foreign Studies University, made a keynote speech, pointing out that the study of the “World Book Life Index” is of great significance and value to the applied practice and academic research of Chinese culture going abroad, and provides scientific and objective data and research methods for the effective research of Chinese culture going abroad, Chinese media going abroad, and the building of international communication capabilities.
Experts and scholars attending the meeting fully affirmed the research value of the “World Book Life Index.” They agreed that it is of innovative significance and value to study and evaluate the publication of world books from China’s perspective. At the same time, they put forward valuable suggestions on how to further enhance the world communication and influence of the “World Book Life Index.” Finally, Prof. He Mingxing thanked the experts and scholars for their suggestions, and Liu Ying made a summary of the seminar. Teachers and graduate students from Beijing Foreign Studies University and other universities, as well as publishing houses such as Zhonghua Book Company, participated in this seminar online.
