“邪之所湊，其氣必虛”，寒冬時節(jié)，腎氣虧虛之人，久居冷濕之地，極易因風(fēng)寒濕邪侵襲腰膝筋骨，而致肢體病痛，亦稱痹癥。

"The pathogen invades the body and causes illness due to deficiency of vital energy".In winter, people deficient in kidneyqi, living in cold and wet places for a long time, are prone to wind, cold and dampness invasion into the waist, knees and muscles, which will cause pain and disease in the limbs.The symptoms are also known as arthromyodynia.

胡王使者獻“獨活”

An emissary offering unique elixir

相傳，古時有位國王經(jīng)常關(guān)節(jié)麻木、渾身酸痛，數(shù)次張榜懸醫(yī)卻收效甚微，苦不堪言。恰逢川西有位胡王使者，受命出使與國王締結(jié)盟約，聞訊主動獻上川西的特產(chǎn)草藥。國王試服后療效顯著，連續(xù)數(shù)天就徹底痊愈。

喜出望外的國王，下令把這種草藥命名為“胡王使者”，并將其療效昭告天下，號召民間廣為種植。自此，“胡王使者”日益普及，治病救人無數(shù)，被百姓們親切地稱為“獨活”。

According to legend, in ancient times, a king often suffered from numbness in his joints and aches and pains all over his body.The king posted a reward for therapy but it didn't work.An emissary of the King of Qiang Nationality in western Sichuan,who was appointed to conclude an alliance with the king, offered a special herbal medicine from western Sichuan.The king tried it and was completely cured in a few days.

The king, who was overjoyed, named the herb after the emissary.The herb was also called "Angelicae Pubescentis Radix".The king informed the healing effect all over the nation and called on the people to grow the herb widely.Since then Angelicae Pubescentis Radix became more and more popular,curing countless people, and was affectionately called "Du Huo(elixir) " by the people.

固腎扶正御風(fēng)寒

Strengthening the kidney and enhancing the body resistance to wind-cold pathogen

為了更好地發(fā)揮獨活的功效，藥王孫思邈以此為主藥，創(chuàng)制獨活寄生湯，成為聲名遠(yuǎn)播的痹癥名方。

獨活寄生湯有15味藥，獨活祛風(fēng)止痛，桑寄生補肝腎、強筋骨，共為君藥。秦艽、防風(fēng)、杜仲、牛膝，祛風(fēng)濕、舒經(jīng)絡(luò)、利關(guān)節(jié)，共為臣藥。細(xì)辛、肉桂疏風(fēng)散寒，當(dāng)歸、川芎、生地黃、白芍活血通痹，人參、茯苓、甘草益氣健脾，共為佐藥。甘草調(diào)和諸藥，為使藥。全方合用，能明顯改善微循環(huán)，調(diào)節(jié)免疫、抗炎鎮(zhèn)痛。

In order to better exploit the efficacy of Angelicae Pubescentis Radix, Sun Simiao, the guru of TCM in Tang Dynasty, used Angelicae Pubescentis Radix as the main ingredient to invent Du Huo Ji Sheng Tang as famous prescription for arthromyodynia.

There are 15 herbs in Du Huo Ji Sheng Tang.Angelicae Pubescentis Radix dispels wind pathogen and relieves pain, while loranthus parasiticus nourishes the liver and the kidney aswell as strengthening tendons and bones.The two herbs are used as the monarch medicine.

Gentiana macrophylla; Saposhnikovia divaricata(Turcz.) Schischk; Eucommia ulmoides and Radix achyranthis bidentatae are used as the minister medicine with effects of dispelling wind-dampness,soothing the meridians, and strengthening the joints.Herba asari and Cassia cinnamon have effect of relieving wind and dispersing cold while Angelica sinensis; Ligusticum wallichii;Rehmannia glutinosa; Paeonia lactiflora have effects of promoting blood circulation and relieving arthromyodynia.Panax ginseng; Wolfiporia cocos and Glycyrrhiza glabra(Licorice) have effects of promotingqiand strengthening the spleen.The nine herbs are used as the assistant medicine.Glycyrrhiza glabra is uesd as the guide medicine.The whole formula can significantly improve microcirculation，regulate immunity and have effects of anti-inflammatory and analgesic.

增藥量以酒伴服

Increase the dose with wine

被沿用到現(xiàn)代的獨活寄生湯，還經(jīng)常用于慢性關(guān)節(jié)炎、腰肌勞損、骨質(zhì)增生、風(fēng)濕性坐骨神經(jīng)痛等疾病的治療。

對于積病多年的患者，臨床治療可將獨活用量由原方的9g增加至15g。服用時，酌情在湯藥中滴入10～15滴白酒，酒助藥性、直達(dá)病灶。其間如能配合針灸等物理治療，可收事半功倍之效。

Du Huo Ji Sheng Tang has been used up till now and is also often used in the treatment of chronic arthritis;lumbar strain; osteophytes; rheumatic sciatica and other diseases.

For patients who have been sick for many years,the dosage of Du Huo Ji Sheng Tang can be increased from 9g to 15g.From 10 to 15 drops of Chinese liquor can be added to Du Huo Ji Sheng Tang as appropriate, so that the wine can help the medicinal properties to reach the focus of a disease.If the treatment is combined with acupuncture and moxibustion, the result will be remarkably improved.
