Journalists reporting on the Winter Olympics are being offered the chance to sleep on the job thanks to high-tech cabins at the Beijing media centre.The “Sleep Rest Cabins” are just one of a number of innovations to be unveiled at the Games.Anyone can access the pods by scanning a QR code on their phone.The spacious cabins contain the same bed Olympians are sleeping on in the Athletes’ Village with the user able to adjust their position and with a remote control or mobile phone.The beds even have a “zero-gravity mode［零重力模式］” meant to reduce stress on the body — you don’t quite float，but it’s pretty comfortable.The spokesperson for cabin manufacturer，said 30 to 40 people a day have been using them so far.“We’ve placedsleeping cabins［睡眠艙］here for journalists to give an environment to work，rest and get relaxed，” she said.

British academics have a positive message for us: people look more attractive in protective masks.Researchers at Cardiff University were surprised to find that both men and women were judged to look better with a face covering obscuring the lower half of their faces.In what may be a blow for producers of fashionable coverings，they also discovered that a face covered with a disposable-type surgical mask was likely to be deemed the most appealing.“This may be because we’re used to healthcare workers wearing blue masks and now we associate these with people in caring or medical professions.At a time when we feel vulnerable，we may find the wearing of medical masks reassuring and so feel more positive towards the wearer，” said Dr Michael Lewis，a reader from Cardiff University’s school of psychology and an expert in faces.

3 Beijing 2022 starts new era for global winter sports［全球冰雪運動］ 北京冬奧會將開啟全球冰雪運動新時代

The Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games will be the start of a new era for winter sports worldwide with over 300 million Chinese taking up winter sports，said International Olympic Committee (IOC)President Thomas Bach on Feb 3rd，as he opened the 139th IOC Session in the Chinese capital on the eve of theOpening Ceremony［開幕式］.The IOC President added that，Beijing officially became the first city ever to host both summer and winter editions of the Olympic Games.Bach also believed that the Chinese people will enjoy social benefits from hosting the Games.“Today，China is a winter sport country.The increased physical activity through winter sport is contributing to the health and well-being of the Chinese people.”

2月3日，國際奧委會第139次全會在北京開幕，國際奧委會主席托馬斯·巴赫表示，中國為實現(xiàn)“帶動三億人參與冰雪運動”創(chuàng)造了歷史，北京冬奧會將開啟全球冰雪運動的新時代。巴赫表示，2月4日，北京冬奧會開幕，北京成為世界上首個既舉辦過夏奧會又舉辦冬奧會的“雙奧之城”。巴赫還表示，北京冬奧會將惠及中國億萬群眾，現(xiàn)在的中國已經(jīng)是冬季運動大國，人們將因參與冰雪運動而收獲身心健康。
