1Chinese clothes reflected Chinese aesthetics,philosophy （哲學(xué)）,and social values as they changed through thousands of years of history.Most countries in the world have their own unique clothes,from which people are able to distinguish（區(qū)分）one country from another,and so it has been with China.The Hanfu,Tang suit,and cheongsam (qipao)are the three most representative types of Chinese clothing.

●Hanfu

2The Hanfu is the oldest of China's traditional clothes.Legend traces it back to over 4,000 years ago when Huangdi's consort(配偶)， Leizu,made cloth with silk.It was constantly improved throughout several dynasties.

3Until the Han Dynasty,the Hanfu was adopted and promoted by the ruling class.It then became the national clothing of the Han ethnic people.It also had a far-reaching influence on neighboring Asian countries,such as Japan and Vietnam.

●Tang suit

4The Tang suit often refers to a type of Chinese jacket rather than the clothing of the Tang Dynasty.This name came from the overseas Chinese.As the Tang Empire was famous for being rich and powerful in the world,foreigners called the overseas Chinese people “the Tang people”and the clothes they wore were called“Tang suit”.

●Cheongsam(qipao)

5The cheongsam developed from the Manchu (滿族) women's changpao(“l(fā)ong gown”)of the Qing Dynasty.The Manchu ethnic people were also called the Qi people by the Han people;hence （因此）their long gown was named qipao(“Qi gown”).Cheongsam is popular because it fits the Chinese female figure well,and looks elegant.It is suitable for wearing all the year round for both young and elderly group.And it can either be long or short.

嫘 祖

嫘祖，又名累祖，《山海經(jīng)》中寫作“雷祖”，中國遠(yuǎn)古時期人物，相傳為西陵氏之女，黃帝的正妃。她發(fā)明了養(yǎng)蠶治絲的方法，史稱“嫘祖始蠶”。黃帝戰(zhàn)勝蚩尤后，建立了部落聯(lián)盟，黃帝被推選為部落聯(lián)盟首領(lǐng)。他帶領(lǐng)大家發(fā)展生產(chǎn)，種五谷，馴養(yǎng)動物，冶煉銅鐵，制造生產(chǎn)工具；而做衣冠的事，就交給嫘祖了。相傳，在做衣冠的過程中，嫘祖和黃帝手下的另外三個人進(jìn)行了具體分工：胡巢負(fù)責(zé)做帽子，伯余負(fù)責(zé)做衣服，于則負(fù)責(zé)做履(鞋)，而嫘祖則負(fù)責(zé)提供原料。她經(jīng)常帶領(lǐng)婦女上山剝樹皮，織麻網(wǎng)，她們還把男人們獵獲的各種野獸的皮毛剝下來，進(jìn)行加工。
