Milkweed is a kind of plant. It is the only food for monarch butterflies when they are still babies.

Most of monarch butterflies live in North America（北美洲）. Some live in other places like Australia and India（印度）.

In summer， monarch butterflies live in the US and Canada. They fly south（向南） to Mexico（墨西哥） for winter.

When its spring， they fly back to the north. Only a few butterflies finish the whole（整個的） trip. Many lay eggs（產(chǎn)卵） along the way and die.

The monarch butterfly is the “king” of all butterflies. They are large and beautiful.

People are helping to save（拯救） monarch butterflies. Some turn their garden into a butterfly garden. Wen Wen is one of them. She is a 9-year-old girl from the US. She grows milkweed in her garden and raises（喂養(yǎng)） monarch butterflies.
