The trousers and shoes are too big. The coat and a hat are too small. Oh， that moustache2. The Tramp Character3， they called him. And what a character he was.

Charles Spencer Chaplin was not rich at first. He has good work， but money came later. First， Charlie had to win4 over life before he could win over the audience5.

He was the first comedian. Hes not just a name in the history of acting， but the history of acting. His movies are well known， but his hard past isnt. So here is the story of Charlie Chaplin.

Charlies father was important in his life. The man liked drinking very much. His mother was also an actor. She would often put on small shows for her son to make him laugh7. Chaplins family lived a poor8 but happy life.

But the family faced a big problem. His mothers disease would one day need a lot of money. He and his half-brother Sydney went to the streets and danced. Small kids made money to keep the house going. But soon， it all got worse.

Charlie had nowhere to go. He would sleep on the streets and had no food. He was only 14 at the time. He was poor and lonely. He couldnt go to school. A short meeting with his mother made him happier， but the disease got worse. He said， “There was nothing we could do but face poor mothers disease.” He made money later. He made a lot. But it could not bring back the woman who gave us the greatest comedian ever.

The Tramp character was a symbol， which is to make the world a better place. People around the world were lucky to have him. He was a beautiful gift.
