On June 19, 2020 the project “Development and application of package technology for manufacture of 5 kt/a of hydrogenation catalysts”, in the implementation of which the Resarch Institute of Petroleum Processing(RIPP) has been taking part, had passed the apparaisal organized by the SINOPEC Science and Technology Division. This project has realized the integration, scale-up,and automation of hydrogenation catalyst production unit,while achieving low energy consumption and cleanness of hydrogenation catalyst production process, with its technology reaching an internationally advanced level.

This project is jointly developed and performed by the SINOPEC Catalyst Company, RIPP and the Tianhua Chemical Machinery and Automation Research and Design Institute, with the actual production capacity of the hydrogenation catalyst plant reaching more than 6 kt/a. The scale production effect of this unit is obvious, as evidenced by the reduction of catalyst production cost, since the product yield has been increased from 95.96% to 98.55%,the comprehensive energy consumption has been decreased by 55.25%, and the pollutants emission indicator can meet the national standard GB31571-2015, which can provide technical support for promoting the technical progress of petroleum processing technologies, enhancing the highefficiency conversion of heavy oil, and meeting the demand for upgrading of gasoline and diesel quality.
