        Chinese President Xi JinPing Meets withIndian Prime Minister Modi in Brazil

        Chinese President Xi Jinping met with IndianPrime Minister Narendra Modi in Brasilia, capitalof Brazil, on November 13, 2019, saying he is willingto maintain close communication with Modi toguide a better and m()re stable development ofChina-India relations.

        The two leaders held an informal meetingin October 2019 in the southern Indian city ofChennai. Xi said the meeting was a success, notingthat they made in-depth exchanges of views onglobal and regional situation as well as majorissues of bilateral ties.

        Xi said that relevant departments of the twocountries are implementing their consensusreached during the Chennai meeting to sustain andexpand its positive effeects.

        India participated in the second ChinaInternational Import Expo (CIIE) as a main guestof honor, Xi said, noting that he was told thatIndia was the country with the largest increase intransaction volume at the expo compared with 2018.

        China welcomes more exports of India's high-quality products to its market, the president said,calling on the two countries to expand two-way tradeand investment and create new growth points forcooperation in productivity, medicine, informationtechnology, infrastructure and other fields.

        Recalling his previous meetings with Xi in Wuhanin April 2018 and in Chennai in October 2019, Modisaid trust and friendship between them have beenstrengthened and many important consensusesreached by them are being implemented.

        India congratulates China on the success of thesecond CIIE, Modi said, stressing that the countryis ready to expand bilateral trade and investmentwith china and enhance their cooperation inenergy and other fields.

        He added that India is ready to work withChina to make the activities celebrating the70th anniversary of their diplomatic ties and theChina-India year of cultural and people-to-peopleexchanges a success.

        The Indian prime minister stressed that he islooking forward to keeping close contacts with Xiand properly managing differences, so that bilateralties can be more fruitful and reach a new height.

        "Hand-in-Hand 2019," a China-India jointcounter-terrorism exercise, was held in Indiafrom December 7 to 20, 2019. China and India each sent 130 officers andsoldiers, who formed ajoint training unitthat completed the three-phase training. Since 2007, Chinese and Indian militarieshave conducted joint counter-terrorismtrainings eight times. Those trainingprograms promoted exchanges andincreased mutual trust between the twomilitaries.
