如果你看到別人扔在路邊的舊家具、舊物件，而這些正是你需要的，你會把它們撿回家嗎？大多數(shù)人的回答一定是不會。既然是人家不要的，那就是廢品，誰也不想當(dāng)個(gè)撿破爛的。然而在我居住的小鎮(zhèn)，人們有著不同的看法……

剛來美國的那年初夏，我和媽媽出門散步，看見有些人正從家里搬出舊物件堆放在路邊，有沙發(fā)、桌椅、電視機(jī)，也有鍋碗瓢盆、積木和洋娃娃。

我們看到了羽毛球拍，媽媽前幾天還說要買一副呢。這球拍挺新的，他們是丟棄不用了嗎？我們正猜測著，一個(gè)小男孩搬著一堆東西從房里出來，“你們要嗎？免費(fèi)?！蹦泻⒄f。球拍他們沒用過幾次，現(xiàn)在家里沒人玩羽毛球了，“你們?nèi)羰怯玫蒙暇湍米甙?。”男孩還翻出兩盒未開封的羽毛球，“這些新的羽毛球你們也拿去吧?！?/p>

這真是意外的收獲！原來堆放在路邊的那些東西，只要你用得上，都可以免費(fèi)隨便拿回家。只是這個(gè)被我們稱為“撿東西日”的日子一年只有一次，大概在每年的六月初。

這期間，經(jīng)常會看到有人開車沿路邊轉(zhuǎn)，趕在回收公司清運(yùn)之前挑揀需要的東西。

現(xiàn)在，我們家里有許多東西都是路邊淘來的：搖椅、桌子、柜子，甚至還有一幅畫。撿東西——這真是個(gè)有趣的“傳統(tǒng)”呀！天氣變暖時(shí)，我們和小鎮(zhèn)其他人一樣，還會繼續(xù)沿街“淘寶”。

If you find old furniture or old utensils that you need on the streets， would you take them home？ Most people would respond "no". If they are disposed， then they must be trash. Bringing them home would make you look bad. However， in the town I live in， people have a different view…

The early summer when we first came to US， my mom and I went out for a walk， we noticed some people were moving old utensils from their houses and piling them along the street. There were various types of furniture like sofas， desks， chairs and televisions， kitchen utensils. Legos， dolls were in the piles as well.

We found a pair of badminton rackets on the streets， Mom planned to buy a pair just several days ago. They looked pretty new， were they disposed？ While we were wondering， a boy walked out of the house， carrying a pile of stuff.

"Do you want them？ Theyre for free." He said they only used this pair of rackets a couple of times， no one in his house plays badminton anymore. "If you need them， just take them. Also， I have two boxes new shuttlecocks here， please take these as well."

What a nice surprise！ Turns out， its quite normal in our town to take the old items that are piled on the street， if you need them. This "Treasure Hunting Day"（as we named it） happens annually in the beginning of June.

On this day， you can see many people driving around in cars， picking out what they need before the recycling companies clear everything out.

Now， many items in our house were"taken" from the streets： a rocking chair， desks， closets， and even a picture！ Exchanging unneeded furniture and equipment — what an interesting "tradition"！ Every year when the weather gets warm， we， like many others in our town， go for a "treasure hunting" along the streets.
