Walt Disney was one of the best-known motion picture1 producers in the world. Walt is famous for being an American businessman， director， voice actor， as well as an innovator2 in animation3 and theme park design， etc.， which makes him a popular figure among American generations.

華特·迪士尼是世界知名的動(dòng)畫(huà)電影制片人。他還是美國(guó)著名企業(yè)家、導(dǎo)演、配音演員，也是動(dòng)畫(huà)和主題公園的創(chuàng)始人，在一代又一代美國(guó)人民心中頗受歡迎。

As a child， Walt developed an interest in art and took lessons at the Kansas City Institute and later Chicago Art Institute. When America joined the First World War， Walt dropped out4 of school and tried to enlist5 in the army. He was rejected6 for being underage， but he was later able to join in the Red Cross and in late 1918 was sent to France to drive an ambulance. He was 17 at that time.

His contributions in the field of animation started in the early 20th century. His first success was through the series， Oswald the Lucky Rabbit， which was created by the Disney studio and produced by the famous Universal Studios. When Walt asked for a larger budget7 for his popular Oswald series， Charles Mintz， the manager of Universal Studios refused and forced Disney to give up the ownership8 of Oswald.

But Walt never gives up9 easily. Later， Walt and his brother Roy Disney started from the beginning and co-founded Walt Disney Productions， now known as The Walt Disney Company. Today， this company is worth over $150 billion. This success is largely due to a number of the worlds most famous fictional10 characters he and his staff created including Mickey Mouse， a character for which Disney himself was the original11 voice.

Walt won 26 Academy Awards out of 59 nominations（提名）， both totals and records， giving him more awards and nominations（提名）than any other individuals. He is also the namesake12 for Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resort theme parks in the United States， as well as13 the international resorts in Japan， France， and China.

Though it all started with a mouse， hundreds of other characters have been born from the imagination of the Walt Disney Company， most of them with worldwide fame and success. Others appeared14 only a few times but have contributed to the originality15， humor and the freshness of Walt Disney productions.
