同學(xué)們，你們知道如何描述一個(gè)人嗎？寫(xiě)人是中考寫(xiě)作常見(jiàn)的題目，描述一個(gè)人可以從他的外貌、性格特征入手，也可以把他以前和現(xiàn)在的容貌作對(duì)比來(lái)說(shuō)明他的變化。

一、常用表達(dá)?

1. —You used to be short, didn’t you? 你過(guò)去很矮，不是嗎？

—No, I didn’t. 不，我不矮。

2. —Did he use to wear glasses? 他過(guò)去常戴眼鏡嗎？

—Yes, he did. 是的，他戴眼鏡。

3. —What does John look like? 約翰長(zhǎng)什么樣？—He’s thin and tall. He has brown hair, blue eyes and wears a pair of glasses.

他又高又瘦，棕色的頭發(fā)，藍(lán)色的眼睛，戴一副眼鏡。

4. —I have never seen your father. Can you describe him to me?

我從沒(méi)見(jiàn)過(guò)你的父親，你能描述一下嗎？

—Yes. He is tall and fat, with a big nose and is very humorous.

可以。他又高又胖，大鼻子，人很幽默。

5. —Do you like the new classmate? 你們喜歡新來(lái)的同學(xué)嗎？—Yes, he is intelligent, patient and very friendly.

喜歡，他很聰明，又有耐心，對(duì)我們很友好。

6. —Can you tell me what the scientist looks like?

你能告訴我那個(gè)科學(xué)家長(zhǎng)什么樣嗎？

—He is tall and thin. Besides, he is curious and careful.

他又高又瘦。而且，既好奇又細(xì)心。

7. —What did she use to be like? 她過(guò)去長(zhǎng)什么樣？

—She was tall and had straight hair, and she was outgoing.

她很高，直發(fā)，而且很外向。

二、對(duì)話演練?

從方框內(nèi)選出合適的選項(xiàng)補(bǔ)全對(duì)話，其中有兩項(xiàng)是多余選項(xiàng)。

Jenny:Wow! Tom, you have changed a lot!

Tom:Why do you think so?

Jenny:___1___. But now you are very thin.

Tom:So did you. You used to have long hair but now you have short hair.

Jenny:How is your school life?

1 Pardon? 對(duì)不起，請(qǐng)?jiān)僬f(shuō)一遍好嗎？

與某人談話，若對(duì)方鄉(xiāng)音腔調(diào)很重或是語(yǔ)意含糊不清時(shí)，則使用此詞，要求對(duì)方再重復(fù)一遍。此詞是由May I beg your pardon?化簡(jiǎn)而來(lái)，注意pardon要用升調(diào)。Q:Could you tell me the time? 請(qǐng)問(wèn)幾點(diǎn)了？

A:Pardon? 對(duì)不起，請(qǐng)?jiān)僬f(shuō)一遍好嗎？

Q:What time is it, please? 請(qǐng)問(wèn)現(xiàn)在幾點(diǎn)？

A:It’s 9 : 30. 九點(diǎn)三十分。

【常用口語(yǔ)】

Excuse me? = Pardon me? 對(duì)不起，請(qǐng)?jiān)僬f(shuō)一遍好嗎？

What’s that? = What did you say? 你剛才說(shuō)什么？

Could you say that again? 請(qǐng)您再說(shuō)一遍好嗎？

【特別提醒】

上述類似用語(yǔ)中，以“Excuse me.”“Pardon me.”（或僅說(shuō)“Pardon?”）及“Could you say that again?”較為客氣、常用。至于“What’s that?”與“What did you say?”則常用于熟人和朋友之間。

2 (This is) just between you and me.（這是）僅止于你我之間的秘密。

人與人之間或多或少會(huì)有些小秘密，不論家人間、同事間，皆可能有不想第三者知悉的事情，這時(shí)則可使用本句。

Q:Did you hear about Neil? 你聽(tīng)說(shuō)了有關(guān)尼爾的事情嗎？A:No, what? 沒(méi)有啊，怎么了？

Q:I hear that he’s quitting. 我聽(tīng)說(shuō)他要辭職了。

A:You’re kidding! 你在開(kāi)玩笑吧！

Q:I’m afraid not! Now this is just between you and me. 恐怕不是噢！這是你我之間的秘密。

【常用口語(yǔ)】

Don’t tell anybody. 不要告訴任何人。

Keep it a secret. 保守秘密。

Don’t let it leave this room. 出了此門(mén)就別再談了。

Don’t let the cat out of the bag. 別說(shuō)溜了嘴。

【特別提醒】

本句的“between you and me”亦可置于句首，作副詞詞組用，表“不要告訴任何人”。

3 So what? 那又怎么樣？

表示對(duì)于某人所提到的事情不以為然或是不值大驚小怪時(shí)，則可使用本句。老外說(shuō)此句時(shí)，往往會(huì)聳下肩，作個(gè)兩手?jǐn)傞_(kāi)的動(dòng)作。

Q:I got a ninety- five on my test. 我考試得了九十五分。

A:So what? I got a ninety-nine. 那又怎么樣呢？我得了九十九分。

So? 那又怎樣？

So what’s the big deal? 那有什么了不起？

【特別提醒】

上述對(duì)話中，“I got a ninety- five...”是由“I got a score of ninety- five...”化簡(jiǎn)而來(lái)。另外，類似用語(yǔ)中，“What’s the big deal?”句中“big deal”原意表“大交易”，引申表“了不起”，因此整句的意思為“那有什么了不起？”或“那又怎么樣？”，具有反諷的味道。

例如：

A: My father is a pilot. 我父親是個(gè)飛行員。

B: It’s not a big deal. 那沒(méi)有什么了不起的。

4 I’ll think about it. 我考慮看看。

我們對(duì)于某人突然的提議，感到難以立刻做出決定，而且需要一段時(shí)間考慮時(shí)，則可使用本句。有時(shí)這是為自己留條后路，以免魯莽行事而后悔。

Q:Fred, how would you like to buy my stereo? I’m getting a new one.弗萊德，你要不要買(mǎi)我的音響？我想再買(mǎi)個(gè)新的。

A:How much do you want for it? 你開(kāi)價(jià)多少？

Q:$80. 八十美元。

A:I’ll think about it. 我考慮看看。

Let me think about it. 讓我考慮看看。

I’ll think it over. 我會(huì)考慮看看。

【特別提醒】

有時(shí)我們覺(jué)得某人提出的問(wèn)題過(guò)大，需要好好利用一個(gè)晚上重新整理思緒，再慎重地做出決定時(shí)，則可使用以下例句：

Let me sleep on it. 讓我考慮一個(gè)晚上吧。
