In the month of March, flowers should start blooming. The romantic spring has arrived in China. Yet in New Jersey, where I live, March is madness! The wind is still freezing, and snowstorms had visited us several times already.
Last year when we moved into an apartment, there was a big snowstorm that“welcomed” us. However, this snowstorm is nothing compare to the recent one that occurred in March.
The storm lasted for the entire day. Because it was so heavy, the bushes in our backyard were forced down, as if they were bowing. When everyone was figuring what to do to straighten them up, Dad came up with the idea first. He used a stick to swipe away the snow on those bushes. It worked, they soon grew straight. But troubles were far from over. That evening, I watched through windows, and saw millions of snowflakes dancing with the wind. Suddenly, I heard a big noise. Guess what? Its our tree in the backyard, it fell!
Because of the snow, the school was closed for two days. They say it was too dangerous to go to school in such a terrible weather. When American school closes, its like taking a break for the students. We dont have to worry about doing homework, or any afterschool activities. How very lucky, one of my friends in China was taking his Winter Break, and he was coming over with his family to visit my house that evening. So after dinner, we sneaked outside to see the snow. Suddenly, I “attacked” him with a snowball. He fought back with another one. We also tried to make a snowman, which turned out to be an ugly snow monster. We played until both of us are wet all over. That was such a fun night!
This is my first time to experience extreme weather in the U.S. It taught me the differences between Chinese a n d A m e r i c a n p e o p l e s view and ways to solve the problems.
