Xi Jinping， general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China（CPC） and Chinese president， met Kim Jong Un， chairman of the Workers Party of Korea（WPK） and chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea （DPRK）， in Dalian， northeast Chinas Liaoning Province， on May 7-8.

Xi stressed that he and Kim held their historic first meeting in Beijing in March this year， during which they had a long and in-depth discussion leading to principled consensus on developing China-DPRK relations in the new era.

Kim said that he believes his second meeting with Xi will deepen mutual trust and push the friendly and cooperative DPRK-China relationship to achieve greater closeness and comprehensive development in line with the demands of the new era.

Xi noted that with joint efforts from relevant parties， the momentum of dialogue and alleviation of tensions on the peninsula is being consolidated in a direction that is conducive to a political solution.

China supports the DPRKs adherence to the denuclearization of the peninsula， and backs dialogue and consultation between the DPRK and the United States for resolving the peninsular issue， Xi said.

Speaking highly of Xis profound vision and extraordinary wisdom， Kim expressed his gratitude to China for its longstanding and significant contributions to realizing denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula and safeguarding peace and stability in the region.

China and India R each Broad Consensus in Informal Summit

President Xi Jinping held an informal meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Wuhan， capital of central Chinas Hubei Province， on April 27-28. The two leaders exchanged views on China-India relations and global and regional issues of common concern.

Xi noted that a sound ChinaIndia relationship would significantly contribute to world stability and human progress. On their paths to achieve development and prosperity， China and India face similar tasks. Xi said the two countries should focus on development， deepen their mutually beneficial cooperation， and jointly realize their respective dream of national rejuvenation.

Modi said that as neighbors， the two sides should strengthen dialogue， communication， and cooperation， cherish friendship， and maintain regional peace. He further pointed out that with shared ideas， determination， and visions， China and India would increase mutual understanding， work together to deal with global issues and challenges， handle differences properly， and promote people-to-people exchanges， thus bringing bilateral relations to a new level.

Both sides agreed to advance all-round cooperation and strengthen the China-India Closer Developmental Partnership on an equal-footed， mutually beneficial and sustainable manner to support their national modernization. They also decided to properly manage and control their differences. They agreed to use the Special RepresentativesMeeting on the Boundary Question to seek a fair， reasonable and mutually acceptable settlement. Both sides agreed that the leaders of the two countries would continue to maintain strategic communication in various forms. They committed to endeavoring to open new prospects in ChinaIndia relations， building on the informal summit.

X i H olds Group Meeting with SCO Foreign Ministers

On April 23， 2018， President Xi Jinping held a group meeting in Beijing with foreign ministers from Russia， India， Kazakhstan， Kyrgyzstan， Pakistan， Tajikistan， Uzbekistan， Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization （SCO） Rashid Alimov， and Director of the Executive Committee of the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure Yevgeniy Sysoyev， all of whom were in China for the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the SCO Member States.

Xi Jinping pointed out that since the establishment of the SCO 17 years ago， it has gone through an extraordinary development path， becoming a comprehensive regional organization with extensive influence. Xi Jinping stressed that China has consistently taken the promotion of the SCOs development as one of its diplomatic priorities. He added that under the new circumstances， firstly， we should stay true to our original aspirations and firmly carry forward the “Shanghai Spirit”； secondly， we should give play to our advantages and fully realize the new potential after membership expansion； thirdly， we should forge ahead and make progress， and determine to promote comprehensive cooperation.

The foreign ministers indicated in their speeches that the leaders of all SCO countries attach great importance to and look forward to attending the SCO Qingdao Summit， and speak highly of the work China has done as the presidency. The SCO， after expansion， should stick to the “Shanghai Spirit，”adapt to the developing situation， and intensify coordination and cooperation in global and regional affairs.
