CGWIC and Royal Group of Cambodia are signing a Framework Agreement for the TECHO 1 Communications Satellite Project
On January 11, 2018, CGWIC and Royal Group of Cambodia signed a Framework Agreement for the TECHO 1 Communications Satellite Project in the Peach Palace, Phnom Penh, witnessed by Chinese Premier LI Keqiang and Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen.
As a prime contractor of the project,CGWIC will deliver a communications satellite to the Cambodian user in the form of satellite in-orbit delivery which will include launch services, a ground control system, ground application system, insurance, training and know-how technology transfer.
Prime Minister Hun Sen expressed several times in public that Cambodia needs to own and operate satellites to ensure secure national communications.Based on the Cambodian requirement,CGWIC will provide an effective and competitive solution which gained high evaluation from the Cambodian user.
The satellite project will establish the first integrated satellite communications system for Cambodia and it will improve the standard of infrastructure and provide broadcasting and telecommunication services to local people.
In addition, this project will be conductive to enhancing the traditional friendship between China and Cambodia, helping to promote the construction of the “Belt and Road” spatial information corridor and enhancing the level of connectivity between China and Cambodia and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations region.
TECHO 1 communications satellite is planned to launch in the year of 2021.
