The CPC Grows Together with the Chinese People

This July, the Communist Party of China (CPC) will celebrate its 96th birthday. As a former Myanmar government publicity official and editor-in-chief of the Union Daily Newspaper run by the Union Solidarity and Development Party, I have made multiple visits to China, in which I have witnessed the country’s development and prosperity under CPC leadership.

China has made admirable social, economic and political achievements. The CPC has proved itself to be a party of enduring vitality. It is marching from strength to strength because it is rooted among the 1.3 billion Chinese people, and serves the people and grows together with them.

From the very day of its creation, the CPC has stood firmly with the interest of the people, and constantly worked to meet their material and spiritual demands. Over the course of the past 96 years, it has remained committed to the wellbeing of the Chinese people, and endeavored to improve their livelihoods. The CPC is expected to make further contributions to the people of China and overall humankind in the coming years.

Last year Chinese President Xi Jinping delivered a speech at a conference celebrating the 95th anniversary of the founding of the CPC. Reflecting on milestone events of the past while staying solidly grounded in China’s current reality, the speech carried with it a rich historical texture, and highlighted the continuity of the Party’s legacy.

Currently, many of the world’s political parties have slipped into decline due to various reasons. The CPC, by contrast, is heading towards an even brighter future, and has developed the “Chinese approach” over the course of its growth. Such success can be attributed to its confidence in the concepts of its own development as well as the trust the Chinese people have in the party and the Chinese path of development.

The word “reform” appeared repeatedly in Xi’s speech. Reform is critical for a large, sophisticated political party like the CPC. The party must reform itself constantly in order to adapt to shifting situations at home and abroad and the challenges arising from such changes.

The Chinese president also singled out corruption as the top threat to the CPC. China’s anti-corruption campaign has won broad support from the public. Corruption is a serious problem, but I believe the CPC will defeat it under the leadership of CPC leaders and the support of Chinese people.

Unlike certain powers which reached current prominence and wealth by invading and exploiting smaller countries, China rises peacefully. It builds on its national strength and realizes growth through modernization, globalization and good governance. China is firmly against the strong bullying the weak, and advocates good neighborliness and winwin results. Its vision on global governance is impressive.

China is glad to share with the rest of the world its confidence, the benefits of its development, technologies and development experiences. Two examples of its globalized approach are its opening-up drive and the Belt and Road Initiative, which invite the participation of all nations worldwide. They will contribute to a better world order for this and following generations, as well as mankind as a whole.

The 19th National Congress of the CPC, scheduled to be held in Beijing this autumn, is set to become another milestone political event for both the CPC and the Chinese people of all ethnic groups. A look back into history reveals that the seven CPC national congresses that have been held after the country introduced the reform and opening up policies have combined to draw a fantastic blueprint for socialism with Chinese characteristics, demonstrating the strong confidence of the CPC and the Chinese people.

Leadership serves as the “l(fā)ocomotive” of a territory or an organization. Leadership building is not only crucial to consolidating the organizational foundation of the CPC, but also key to China’s efforts to seek progress while maintaining stability. As a Myanmar media professional who has long kept an eye on China’s development, I look forward to witnessing the increasing number of opportunities that will be brought by the upcoming political event for further advancement of the country.
