Launched in 1997, CDCIF has been the highest level and the most influential daily chemical academic and technical event in China. It is held once every two years and aims to introduce the latest technological development and academic research on hot issues of the related field. It has been attended by participants from across the country and attracts academic scholars, practioners and individuals who are engaged in various aspects of daily chemical industry. It provides a platform for domestic and foreign experts and technicians to exchange ideas and achievements.
In this year, with a two-day, embracing the conference theme “Moving forward without end”, individuals from manufacturing companies, their suppliers, universities, and government shared technological advances, and information on topics critical to the daily chemical industry, including the regulatory landscape. It reviewed and summarized the 20 years of the forum history, as well as looked toward the future. A series of activities and events including plenary lectures, summit forum, keynote lectures and invited lecture were held.
Prior to conference kick-off, on the morning of 19 July,Mr. Wang Wanxu, president of China Research Institute of Daily Chemical Industry (RIDCI), also editor-in-chief of CDC opened the Forum, welcomed the guests and recalled the importance of 20 years of CDCIF. He said,“I’m very excited to welcome you to the Forum held here for two days of sessions. Since the Forum launched in 1997,it has gone through 20 years. Over the past 20 years, China daily chemical industry has gained greatest achievements and entered into a period of rapid growth and great prosperity. At present, China daily chemical industry is in a golden period of development. Driven by science and technology innovation, we aim to promote healthy and sustainable development of the industry. Let’s work together! ”
Mr. Zhang Lei, the COB of Daqian High-tech Research Center Co., Ltd., gave a welcome address. In his speech, he reviewed the development process of China daily chemical enterprises. Furthermore, he pointed out several factors affecting the local enterprises and also offered some solutions.

Li Huiliang ( deputy director of the experts committee of CAFFCI )addresses “How to develop China’s domestic cosmetics”
On 19 July, 2017, the meeting began with a comprehensive report from Li Huiliang, deputy director of the experts committee of the China Association of Fragrance Flavour and Cosmetic Industries (CAFFCI). Take the Chinese cosmetics industry as an example, he rethought the development of China daily chemical industry. He believed that there’s still plenty of room for China’s cosmetics industry to growth, and local cosmetics brands have unique competitive advantages. At the same time, he emphasized that although achieving fruitful results, many local cosmetics enterprises are facing confusion on how to break through the bottleneck to make further development.Nevertheless, the common problems the local enterprises facing with are: serious homogeneity of the market, lack of focus and support on brand awareness and innovation by senior management, the lagging behind in R&D and production management. It is important to establish system innovation thinking, emphasize on the R&D of product, strengthen brand building, establish scientific decision-making methods and focus on talent management and leadership development.
Li Jin, senior researcher of Unilever Safety and Environmental Assurance Center, provided the conference plenary address, in which he touched on some key concepts of chemical risk assessments and some novel non-animal approaches, and then introduced a generic framework of mechanistically-based (non-animal) risk assessments. He also addressed some research development programmers and progress in EU and USA, as well as efforts in China.

Another Plenary address, entitled “Research and development of functional ingredients from plant compounds in cosmetics”, was by Dong Yinmao, professor of Beijing Technology and Business University. In his speech, based on the traditional Chinese medicine theory,he provided a research idea of functional ingredients from plant compounds in cosmetics.
Last but not least, Zhong Xingchun from Taiwan Cosmetics GMP Industry Development Association intervened in the conference, with a lecture about “Technology application trends in cosmetics industry in Taiwan”. He introduced the trend of cosmetics technology application in Taiwan, and provided another way of thinking for China’s daily industry from the perspective of the whole industry chain. In his opinion, extending the industrial chain is also one of the ways to help enhance daily chemical industry growth.
In the afternoon of 19 July, Technical Inno-vation Summit opened to discuss technological innovation in the new era. 5 Chinese public figures attended the forum, including: Zhong Xingchun(president of Taiwan Cosmetics GMP Industry Development Association),Li Huiliang(deputy director of the experts committee of the CAFFCI),Zhang Lei(COB of Daqian High-tech Research Center Co., Ltd.), Dong Yinmao(professor of Beijing Technology and Business University), and Chen Tao(deputy general manager of Guangzhou Lonkey and Industrial Co., Ltd.).
The next section is Regulation Summit.
