There are many wonders（奇跡） in the world. They are amazing（令人驚訝的）. Today，lets see one of the wonders in China，the Great Wall.

About 2，000 years ago，there were seven smaller countries in China. There were often wars（戰(zhàn)爭）. People built big walls to keep enemies（敵人） out of their country.

Later，Emperor Qin Shihuang（秦始皇） asked the people to join（連接） the walls of different countries. The people were farmers，soldiers（士兵） and prisoners（囚犯）. They put bricks（磚塊） and stones（石頭） together by hand. A lot of people died （死亡） in building the wall. The Qin Dynasty（秦朝） Great Wall is the oldest part（部分） of the wall. In Han Dynasty（漢朝） and Ming Dynasty（明朝），people built new parts of the wall.

Today tourists（游客） like to walk along the wall.

The Great Wall has thousands of beacon towers. In the old times，soldiers used them to look out（監(jiān)視） for the enemy.

When they found the enemy，they would light a fire（點(diǎn)火） and make smoke（煙）. It would tell their partners（伙伴） the enemy was coming.

The Great Wall is more than 20，000 kilometers long. It will take you more than a year to walk the wall.
