The Westin Excelsior Rome has 316 guestrooms， among them， 281 guestrooms are divided between two categories： GrandLuxe and DeLuxe. Among the 35 suites particularly appreciated for their originality and beauty， Villa La Cupola Suite is the most famous one. With a size of more than 1100sqm， this suite is renovated two years ago at the cost of EUR 7million， and has since become the largest hotel suite in the whole of Europe.

Villa La Cupola is one of the biggest and important suites in Europe inaugurated in 1999. The central attraction of Villa La Cupola is undoubtedly the domed living room， which features a breath-taking frescoed cupola inspired by Rome's palaces and villas of renaissance， baroque and neo-classical times. The imposing cupola – almost 12 metres high - has been entirely hand frescoed， following the same traditional technique artists and artisans used in creating the past Roman masterpieces， giving an impressive， dominant atmosphere to the whole area. There are seven wide private terraces and balconies overlooking the magnificent panorama of the ancient city surround rooms on both floors of Villa La Cupola. The US Embassy also chose to be the neighbor of the hotel， though both are ancient buildings， still， the hotel has a grander outlook. Also connecting with the living room and serviced by a private kitchen， the luxurious dining room is dominated by an antique Murano glass chandelier with gold finishing and furnished with a luxurious dining-table， covered with a refined mosaic in antique small marble pieces， and a private wine cabinet with over 200 of the finest wines from around the world. A private elevator and a marble staircase lead to the upper floor of the suite， with its own private fitness room， sauna， steam bath and a magnificent Pompeian style Jacuzzi pool with mosaic floors， vaulted ceiling and frescoes recalling the atmosphere of ancient Roman baths.

The design of this room has been accurately studied so that the horizon painted in the scenes of the frescoes on the wall matches perfectly with the real horizon， which can be seen from the windows. What a royal treat.
