牛首山景區(qū)是南京市“十二·五”期間的重大文化項目，以長期安奉釋迦摩尼佛頂骨舍利為主題。本項目是牛首山東麓入口處的標(biāo)志性建筑，既是景區(qū)接待量最大的游客中心，也作為公共廣場為城市服務(wù)。

設(shè)計在建筑意向上體現(xiàn)佛教文化主題，總體抽象擷取簡約唐風(fēng)，回應(yīng)社會和公眾所預(yù)期的集體記憶。形態(tài)上合理利用地形特點，采用兩組連續(xù)折疊的建筑體量布局，高低錯落、虛實相間，是對山形的呼應(yīng)和江南靈秀婉約氣質(zhì)的演繹。功能上充分考慮景區(qū)入口容量和城市公共廣場的合理性，不同層次的場所設(shè)計兼顧了參禪人流的禮儀性空間和市民休閑的親和性空間。

景區(qū)運行至今，接待游客達(dá)日均3000人，高峰日1.5萬人，總計超過120萬人次，東入口承擔(dān)了其中的90%。游客中心自2015年10月28日投入使用以來，有條不紊地進(jìn)行各種景區(qū)服務(wù)工作，并利用小報告廳定期舉辦公益講座，其服務(wù)功能和建筑形象均受到了社會各界的廣泛好評?！?/p>

3 平面/Plan4 外景/Exterior view

This project is the landmark at the east entrance of Niushou Scenic. It works not only as the tourist center to welcome all the guests who come to worship the Buddha but also a public plaza to service the city.

The architecture image, which takes an abstract style of Tang Dynasty, expresses the Buddhist theme and responds to citizens' collective memory. Based on the variance of the local landscape, the design takes the form of two continuously folding shapes, echoing the landscape and the spirit of exquisite Jiangnan architecture. The function fulfills the needs of the rationality of a scenic entrance and a city plaza. Different levels of the site design take account of both the religious worshiping space and the public leisure space.

Till now, Niushou Scenic tourists 3,000 visitors per day on average, with 15,000 visitors at peak day, totally 1,200,000 per-son-time, among which 90% arrive at the east entrance. The tourist center is in good order and well arranged after putting into use on Oct.28,2015, while the video halls is used to hold public lecture. Both the service function and the architectural image received wide acclaim from the community.□

作為規(guī)模有限、功能明確的建筑類型，游客中心建筑給人的印象是司空見慣的空間布局，墨守陳規(guī)的建筑形態(tài)很難超越。本項目的設(shè)計者更加關(guān)注這一建筑的都市特征。建筑形體組合關(guān)注了地形特征、文化主題，而最重要的是一系列公共空間的形成。在這里我們看到，各種功能的房間與道路、人流、景觀，在明確的城市設(shè)計理念下進(jìn)行了一體化的組合，從而形成了頗具城市品質(zhì)的場所，讓使用者體驗親和的都市空間，提醒人們在既有模式特征突出的建筑項目實施中，盡心盡職地關(guān)注都市公共性。這在當(dāng)今的中國城市尤為重要，也是該項目其對城市的貢獻(xiàn)所在?！?/p>

Jury Statement

With a clearly defined portfolio of limited scale and explicit function, the visitor center evokes the impression of conventional design; it is in fact difcult to go beyond the stereotypical form of this building type. The designers of the project pay more attention to the urban quality of the building. The architecture stresses the formal combination of topography and culture, giving key priority to the creation of a series of public spaces. Here we can see how multi-functional rooms forma unity with the traffic system, the flow of people, and the surrounding landscape, borrowing from urban design strategies to highlight the urban character of the place. The visitor can experience the afnity to the city, which serves to inspire us. When realizing a project with a fxed list of requirements, we might focus our attention towards the urban quality of public space. This is crucial for today's Chinese cities, and this is also the nature of the contribution of the project to city planning.□
