東江源村是東江水系的水源地;環(huán)保非盈利組織試圖改造環(huán)教中心,由華南理工大學(xué)建筑學(xué)院本科學(xué)生完成設(shè)計(jì)與在地實(shí)施。設(shè)計(jì)保留客家老屋原貌,運(yùn)用后山竹材,在其南面加建通透的竹廊,開闊的空間可容納不同活動(dòng)。改造老屋內(nèi)部通過局部的打通和整理,用低成本的方式提升空間品質(zhì)。老屋里的舊物,被轉(zhuǎn)換成家具和裝飾。
期間村民參與討論,對(duì)設(shè)計(jì)提出意見。參與改造的均為本地村民或竹構(gòu)工匠,前期還有外地志愿者幫忙。自落成一年以來,歷經(jīng)600名志愿者和游客。村民在此祭祀祖先,慶祝喜事,閑坐游憩;接受自然導(dǎo)賞培訓(xùn),為游客提供導(dǎo)覽服務(wù)。村中小孩也在此參與志愿者提供的課程。環(huán)教中心在宣傳環(huán)保的同時(shí)帶來人氣,并推動(dòng)了經(jīng)濟(jì)發(fā)展和東江源村的社區(qū)重塑?!?/p>

Dongjiangyuan Village is located in the source of Dongjiang River. To improve the villagers' living conditions, an NGO of environmental protection proposed to build Dongjiangyuan Environmental Education Center. As undergraduate students from architecture faculty, we are responded for the transformation project.
With regard to the reconstruction of the old house, we tried as much as possible to maintain its original look. We shifted our focus to the exterior designs and added a bamboo corridor to the front of the house, evoking people the space perception of the vintage Hakka enclosure had once brought them. Made from the local bamboo, it can be fexibly served as different functions. The folk house was modernized by reorganizing the internal layouts. Obsoletes in the old house were converted to furniture and decoration.
During that period, the locals were enthusiastic to promote the design with us. Thanks to the local craftsmen, professional bamboo construction team and the volunteers, the construction process was fnished in one month. Changes have been taken place over the last year. Many activities held here, having attracted more than 600 visitors. And it is also popular among the locals. It is regarded as not only the lounge of the village, where people hold celebrations and worship their ancestors, but also the classroom for children as well as the adults to be train as tour guides. The Dongjiangyuan Environmental Education Centre rises the awareness of water preservation as well as promotes local economy, which help to remake the community of the village.□

Jury Statement
The project for Dongjiangyuan Environmental Education Center defines very well a simple and clever strategy for revitalization of the existing environment as well a process of direct participation of the community village.The education to a proper use of water is one of the most important challenges for the next future and this project show a sensitive solution.□
